Captain Voss felt weightless, as if gravity itself had lost its meaning. The void rushed past him and his crew—endless, shifting, pulling them deeper into the unknown. His mind screamed, but there was no air, no sound, only the sensation of being dragged through something that was neither space nor time. Then—impact. Voss gasped as his boots met solid ground. He stumbled forward, barely able to keep himself upright. Around him, his crew groaned, struggling to their feet. They were standing on a vast black plain, stretching infinitely in all directions. The ground wasn’t rock or metal—it was something else. Something alive. When Voss moved, the surface rippled beneath him like liquid frozen in motion. Above them, the sky was a swirling mass of impossible colors, constantly shifting, as if the fabric of reality itself was breaking apart. Ng’s voice was unsteady. “What… where are we?” The Keepers of the Rift stood before them, tall and unmoving. Their hollow eyes glowed with cosmic energy. One of them spoke, its voice inside their minds. “You stand at the boundary of existence.” Dr. Rao swallowed hard. “We shouldn’t be here.” Another Keeper stepped forward. “No. You should not.” Voss’s pulse pounded. “Then why bring us here?” The Keepers turned their empty eyes toward the sky. Something stirred above them—a shadow in the swirling chaos. “Because the Rift is opening.” A deep, thunderous sound shook the air. And far above them, the void itself began to c***k open.
