21 Day and Helen had driven for coffee in Chora. They had parked the car near the port, taken a pleasant stroll through the town and sat down to relax for half an hour at the Café Kitron before going home. The Café Kitron belonged to the producers of the island’s famous liqueur of the same name. The outdoor seating was pleasant and the coffee was excellent. Day sipped his frappé appreciatively, and Helen drank her cappuccino quickly to enjoy its warmth. She watched the passers-by while Day looked at his phone. At the table to Day’s left a man opened his newspaper and Day noticed the headline. He went and bought a copy from the local vendor and placed it in front of Helen theatrically, throwing himself back down into his chair. “When will this end?” he said, trying to keep his voice down
