37 On leaving the police station, Day felt unpleasantly light-headed. He didn’t know if he was stunned that the smugglers had been caught or by the news about Paul, but he wished he could sit quietly somewhere to think it through. There was no time for that now. He and Helen had to buy a gift for Rania. He also needed something to eat. Leaving the car near the police station, he met Helen walking towards him. They agreed to call at a ‘zacharoplastia’, a confectionery shop, which was one of the delights of Greece as far as Helen was concerned, and the perfect place to buy beautifully crafted and expertly wrapped chocolates for Rania.
