Day had known she would see through him. She saw to the heart of matters. If she approved the course of action he wanted to take, he wouldn’t hesitate. However, at the moment he certainly was hesitating.
“What did you make of what I said about Petros back there?”
“You carefully didn’t say how you thought Petros was involved,” she replied, staring out to sea without seeing it. “You implied that the police should have questioned him already, and then you told them not to question him. I can see that he might be the only person alive with knowledge of Elias’s discovery of the tomb. Is that why he’s important?”
“I didn’t say that Elias did discover it.”
