I had to travel back to the other territories to finish the map decoding, since it was a series of underworld languages with most of them not being spoken in eons and were almost extinct. The search was long, and I had to travel far. For a while, I would use my ability to go invisible to sneak into buildings to obtain information.
While I was decoding the rest of the map, my status in the Underworld had slowly begun to change. Grendel, my friend and the other leaders were forming an alliance with any territories willing to join a truce and build an empire where we could live in peace and order. Once, during the change of order in the realm, while I was still searching, I found myself in a territory illegally and was spotted. If it wasn't for my friend, I would have ended up using more violent methods to leave that territory. However, he was able to convince them that I had all the best intentions and was granted access to their culture's knowledge of old texts without too much bloodshed. Of course, there are other occasions where the end to our conversation was not very pleasant. There is a reason why my name has become the crazy wandering dragon. However, that wasn't the only time my name had changed. What people had called me did not matter to me, they could call me whatever they wished. My target was set. I was going to find a way back to earth. When I was finally able to uncover the banshees secrets, my life turned to a different direction than where it was leading by those around me. I was finally given the opportunity to find the ripple between my Realm and Earth. Never in my mind had I ever thought I would have been able to go back. Charging forward without stopping, not heeding the pleads for me to stay, I flew far until not even the sound of nature could be heard, and the blue sun was no longer visible. Since the underworld had gotten stable and even though not everyone joined, a large enough did that, for once, we were united and became civilized beings who could live with one another peacefully. Against my constant rejections, no matter how much they pleaded with me, I had told them countless times I was not a leader, and yet I was still voted among the people as emperor and thus began my reign as Arzoran the Drago, the wings and heart of the Underworld.
I was elected due to my large knowledge of almost all the other species and was easily the most terrifying hellion to roam this realm. The Underworld was to be ruled like the Roman Empire. Since many of the elderly or most respected creatures were last on earth during that time, and it was a popular form of ruling before the angels had kicked all the non-humans off of earth, those they didn't deem worthy enough for their homes were forced here as the dark ages began and then would hunt those that escaped or would hire one of the hellions to do it with deals of all kinds promising things they could not cash out on, angels are the worst kind of created.
Like the Roman Empire, we had written and non-written laws. There were culturally based laws. These were the ones that must be adhered to when stepping into another space. Then we had the written laws. They were to be followed by all who were under the alliance, everyone had to respect what was written, there was no one that was exempt from these ordinances. We would have people like the magistrates whose job was to listen to their people and write up a bill that is then tested and run through with all the territories and, if it was voted well enough, would then come to me for final approval. If it was accepted, it would be written into legislation, and the word would be spread accordingly. Since there were many different levels of command, it was easy to set up a series of check and balance systems. There was the emperor who was to be the voice of all and keep overall peace, then the courts that helped within the palace. Outside the capital, the client kings in the underworld would take care of their own, given we have four large domains that are broken down into smaller towns and villages. Our way to this peace was long and difficult, but the end was worth it. For the first time since I was reborn as a demon, my new home was stabilizing in a calm haze. That was when I once again felt the warm breeze hit the back of my neck. It was like fate was telling me it was time to leave.
The first time I reached the riff, I was quickly forced back to the capital by my two next in command. They demanded I return and, since I felt no resistance from the fates guiding hands, I went back. This time it had me venturing deep onto earth and down the crowded muddy streets of France as its revolution was roaring loudly into the streets. It was only 222 years since I was last on earth. To my disgust, humans were still killing one another senselessly. I was stunned at how little time had passed here when I was in the underworld for ten times longer than the time on earth had progressed.
I had reached the town square, where I had met an angel for the first time wearing a human's face. He was leaving the rope of a blade on top of a stage. The dull blade had dropped on a woman's neck, slicing it just shy of a clean cut. The head dangled by tending until the angel brought his hand down to rip the limb off, completely tossing it in the bucket. With his bloody hand, he motioned for the next person to step forward. The crowd was deafening as the cheers in excitement grew for the next poor soul to receive the same end. The eyes of the butcher shined with joy and lust for more blood. Disgusted, I walked away, making sure to keep invisible from the human's and angel's sight.
I reached the deep slums. Many, many dead eyes followed me as I searched for the intention of this horrid sight. I should have stayed in the Underworld if I was just going to see more blood fill the air. Anger began to fill my chest as the disappointment set in. I had let my hopes of the Underworld prospering cloud my expectations of humans. They were no better than us hellions. My train of thought gets interrupted as the hot touch of fate practically sets me on fire. When it disappeared, it left the beginning of winter cold slam into my chest. I looked around the muddy area. The many little ones were spread up and down this street. Many are deformed or on the verge of dying. I made eye contact with a tiny malnutrition ten-year-old in front of me, her bug eyes popping out of her face as she stared at me. She was overflowing with dark demonic magic, there was no doubt that she held a lot of power in her little body. Her eyes were not like the others, they were glowing a deep green, the energy in her was ready to burst out. She was looking straight through my glamour. We stood there in silence as she observed me. She did not cower in fear as she stared at my large monstrous appearance. Instead, she gave me a sad curious look that had a hit of hope in them.
"What are you?" She asked finally. Holding herself closer, she clenched on the way to a thin jacket, trying her best to stay warm. I move to stand in front of her, blocking any gust of wind from hitting her.
"A demon," I answered in a low rumble. Her brows rose, but in a hollow voice she asked.
"Will you kill me then? Will I finally be able to die? Can I reunite with the rest of my family?" As she spoke, her voice got lower in tone, and the questions started to become sobs that she tried to keep in her hidden, along with the tears that I could see itching to escape her hold. My heart tightened with sadness, I hesitated before I shook my head. She reaches out gripping the end of my cloak, tears breaking, and she crumbles in her despair. She begins to wail her anguish and pain clear in her cry. Fate had brought me to this child. I heard it whisper in my ears. I must protect this seer at all costs. I scooped the crying child in my arms, and she continued to sob into my cloak, holding tightly onto the fabric. N'eteri had told me that the wind of fate was going to lead me to my purpose in life. I never would have guessed it would involve a human child with a large amount of dark energy. I learned that she was given that focus of dark magic from absorbing her father's negative and vicious soul as he passed. I knew I had to make sure this girl lived her life free of worry, free to be whoever she wanted to be, because the second she came into my life she became my precious daughter. I was going to live for her and her happiness. I was still a ruler of an empire, and so I took her back to live with me in my palace in the Underworld.
She grew slowly because the time was slower in the Underworld, and it took her eight hundred years to become an adult. When the time came, she had turned eighteen and was more than ready to go back to earth and start her own life on earth. In her long stay, we both learned much about seers and the different kinds of seers there are out there. She was a smart, happy kid and even though many strange things would happen because of her, she became someone very important in our world. She had brightened my world and all those she interacted with. My kingdom was better thanks to her. I had tried taking her back to earth a few times, but there was a creature no one knew anything about chasing her and others like her down. However, she wanted to live the rest of her life in the human realm, and she was being pulled back to earth. I had to let her leave if that is what fate was telling her to do. So, with all her broad knowledge from her time in the Underworld, we created a pendent with a communication stone. She could call on me whenever she needed me. With a heavy heart, I sent her back to live a life on the edge of France in the countryside. There she met her husband and began to grow her new family. Still keeping in touch with her and other seers, my focus had shifted back to the Underworld and its newest problems.
It would be thirty-one years before I would step foot in the human realm. Amici was on her deathbed. We had said our goodbyes and after her passing, I would spend less time with my seers. My focus had to shift to the strange activities of the angels. They were popping up in the Underworld through the many tears in between realms. Some were even seen around many seers on earth. My people had reported back that they were being followed then snatched from the streets. Soon, reports of missing demons, vampires and other hellions began to grow. Some would be found, but they would be different from the last time they were seen.
I didn't return to earth again until 1971, when I was forced out of bed by fates nasty breeze. I rushed to the tear I was being pulled to and arrived at a compound surrounded by trees and tall wired walls. I hovered over the place feeling an unpleasant ice-cold pinching me. I searched around the ground when I detected a little girl with a strong amount of dark magic and a strangely darker woman. Her aura was inky black like the underworld. Her malevolent smile as she looked up at me sent a rock to the bottom of my guts, leaving a sour taste in my mouth as we locked eyes. I had a terrible feeling, but the little girl had a strong likeness of Scarlets, and I was drawn to approach her by fate. I felt the tug on my fingertips as it led me down to speak to them. That was when a strange translucent fea appears, and fought between the two of us abruptly. As we fought, I noticed it had the same features as the creatures that had been populating a part of the south in the Underworld. They have become a big pain in the a*s, but it made me curious as to why it was here chasing after the women and children. We had concluded that they were not originally hellions, but we couldn't find where they came from.
To my displeasure, I did not get to stay long the first day with the two like I should have, but I knew I had to get this body back to the labs before it disappeared like the others. I had to visit, so I could meet the little girl again. She slipped a note in my cloak before I left with the letters S.O.S. When we met, she had pleaded with me to help her run away. I had flown her away, and then she told me all she knew about what her mother was doing. She runs a cult, murdering innocent people, hoping to strengthen her and her daughter's dark magic. She had read Scarlets journals, and they had convinced her that the best way to charge her magic was to murder as many as she could. However, it wasn't working, and she was starting to think that killing her child might have a different outcome since she was her only blood relative alive. So, I help the girl and proceed to end the rest of that terrible woman's home, making sure to burn it all down, taking only Scarlets journals. Before I could tell her myself, she saw the new report on the fire of the compound and never wanted to speak to me again. I understood why, but she was a child, and I couldn't leave her alone, so for a few years one of my guards followed her. She despised the thought that she had eyes on her at all times, but she refused to wear the necklace and made it difficult for me to protect her and run my kingdom. If I hadn't let my anger get the best of me that day, we wouldn't have gotten that way, but I couldn't hold back as the women talked about the hundreds of innocent people that were killed because of her greed for power. I also learned an interesting fact about the angels that day, but they were one step ahead of me, and so I had to start a real investigation into the realm of angels. They might have called it heaven, but I was starting to accept it was anything but.
Another fifteen years passed when I was forced to earth the guard I had been watching the now woman had used her magic spells to cast him home, and I needed to make sure she was strong enough to handle herself before getting back to work. I was greeted by a tired and angry woman in her twenties. The girl from the cult was no longer a tiny red-haired thing. Her powers were strong, and she wasn't a force to be messed with. The magic she learned from traveling had formed into something completely new to the world of magic, and she wielded it with strengthening objects she found on the earth. My report told me that she cast my demon out before he could hurt her husband who was beating her. She said that something did this to him that he had changed into this beast. Instead of killing him, I promised to take him back to the Underworld and have him looked at. She placed a sleeping charm on him, and I had to move her and her young child to a new home. Before I moved them, however, he was a zombie of a human. I had to stop him from attacking and I scared the young girl. To my displeasure, I had to leave them at a hotel across the country with enough money to hide them, but no real explanation was given, and I knew that I wouldn't be able to tell them anything helpful without any information and that was something I didn't have.
