Alpha Aleck's POV Sara's voice cut through the silence like a blade I heard her loud and clear I chose not to acknowledge it "You come" The command cut through the air like a blade, deep and absolute as all my commands should The girl stiffened, her breath catching. A murmur rippled through the gathered wolves. No one defied the Alpha’s call, yet this little one stood and hesitated. Slowly, reluctantly, she stepped forward, the weight of countless eyes pressing down on her. Each step echoed in the silent hall. As she neared me, my gaze swept over her. Then—just for a fraction of a second—my eye twitched. A growl rumbled low in my chest. "What was happening" "Did anyone notice it" *Mate.* The word hit me like a sudden gust of wind, rattling my bones and sending my wolf into a frenzy. My body is locked rigid. The revelation was impossible, absurd—yet Damon snarled clearly in my head. I had to clench my jaw, swallowing the unfamiliar pull in my veins. Before I could react further, the same sharp voice cut through the thickening tension. "What is the meaning of this?" Agai Sara stormed forward, her expression a perfect storm of outrage and disbelief. "Why are you looking at her like that?" The gathered wolves shifted uncomfortably. No one interrupted the Alpha or my Luna—not unless they had a death wish. And she definitely wasn’t finished. "Why did you dismiss them?" she demanded, voice rising. "And why are you summoning a *servant* in front of everyone?" A lesser man might have flinched at her fury. He didn’t even spare her a reaction. "Leave," was all I said, making sure my tone was colder than the winter. Her breath hitched. "Excuse me?" This time, I gave her a reaction—just for a moment. My golden eyes flicked toward her with such chilling disinterest that the anger on her face flickered into something else. Shock. Hurt. It was gone in an instant, but I had already shifted my attention back to the girl standing before me. Sara swallowed, her hands balling into fists. Her lips parted as if she wanted to challenge me again, but the room had fallen deathly silent. Every wolf present understood what had just happened. They all turned away, pretending not to see the way their Luna had been dismissed like she was nothing. She took a slow step back, face unreadable, then turned sharply on her heel and stormed out. The tension in the room remained. "Everyone, out," the Alpha commanded. Chairs scraped against the stone floor as the remaining wolves hurriedly obeyed, filing out without another word. The massive doors closed behind them with a resounding *thud.* And then, it was just the two of us, except for the guards. The girl’s shoulders stiffened. Her breathing was uneven; I could hear it so loudly in my ears, and her hands were clenched at her sides. "I’m just a servant," she muttered, voice barely above a whisper. "I have no place here." I would have said the exact same thing about 10 minutes ago but clearly, that wasn't the case and she knew it She had to My gaze didn’t waver. "Come with me." Her lips pressed together, her muscles tensing like a cornered animal. "I’m nobody. I don’t belong to anyone." A muscle in my jaw twitched. "Carry her." The guards hesitated, probably confused exchanging glances, but when their Alpha spoke, they knew there was no room for argument. The second the guards moved, so did she. In one heartbeat, she was standing frozen in place. The next—she was *gone.* Almost a blur Gasps echoed through the room. The guards scrambled, their reactions too slow. For a split second, I watched, fascinated. No human should have been able to move that fast. She darted between the pillars, weaving through the stunned guards like water slipping through her fingers. My wolf growled. *She’s not just a human.* And yet, she still wasn’t fast enough. A hand caught her wrist, yanking her back. Another arm wrapped around her waist. She kicked and thrashed, but they were stronger. "Let me go!" she snarled, struggling wildly. "Take her upstairs," I ordered, making sure my voice remained calm. She fought them every step of the way, heels dragging against the polished stone floors as they hauled her through the corridors. Her breath came in sharp, panicked bursts. They were taking her to one of the rooms in the tower. I waited back a few minutes when I knew they would have dropped her off and she would be alone before I started making my way there. As I opened the door before I even stepped inside she had already turned to face me She was beautiful Which was saying something about how small she was physically The tension crackled instantly. "This couldn't be happening," I thought But it was I stalked toward her, slow and deliberate. Looking at her was almost suffocating, overwhelming— I could feel something primal burning in my golden eyes. She pressed back instinctively. "Tell me," I said, keeping my voice a quiet command. "What are you?" Her breath hitched again. "A servant." My gaze sharpened. "Liar." One thing I didn't appreciate for a fact was the lies Her fingers curled into fists. "I don’t know what you want from me." I took another step forward, closing the distance between them. The air between them grew heavier, charged with something even I couldn’t name. I could feel it—the pull, the unbearable heat licking at my skin. She had to feel it too It only made sense My wolf paced inside me, restless. This close, I could *smell* it now. The scent of her was maddening, intoxicating. I wanted—no, needed—to get closer, to touch, to claim. My hand lifted, almost involuntarily. The moment my fingertips brushed her skin, a jolt shot through both of us. She gasped just as my breath caught. The spark wasn’t imagined. It was real, electric, setting every nerve ablaze. She jerked away as if burned, eyes wide with something bordering on panic. My own composure cracked, just for a second. I clenched my fists, forcing myself to step back, to *breathe.* Before either of them could speak— *BANG*. A heavy knock rattled the door, breaking the charged silence. She flinched. My head snapped toward the sound, my irritation appetent across my face. Another *bang.* Louder this time. Urgent. Something was wrong. I turned my gaze back to her, lingering just for a moment before I turned on my heel and made my way toward the door. She swallowed hard. Whatever was waiting on the other side it had better be someone dying
