Chapter 28“Well,” the chair of the defense, a woman named Madeline Sandberg, said. She gathered up the numerous pieces of paper she had in front of her in a formal manner and smiled at everyone around the table. “I think that was our last set of official questions from your committee. We still have roughly ten minutes remaining. Does anyone from the viewing gallery wish to ask a question?” Rory’s smile immediately fell from his face. The past three hours had been some of the most stressful, but also what he believed to be the most successful, of his life.
