Chapter 30Rory was about to open The Campus Cavern door when he heard his name being called from behind him. Though he was desperate to get away from most people who were addressing him today, he turned directly towards its source.
“You!” Mikayla shouted again. She had her daughter Devin strapped to her front in a sling and wore a bright blue dress. She looked utterly radiant, and her energy rubbed off on Rory. “You, you, you. Are you a doctor?”
Rory smiled. It felt so good, but the triumph was eventually put on hold as Mikayla wrapped him in a hug. The embrace couldn’t be too tight, lest Devin be crushed in the action, but it was necessary.
“Austin’s here,” Rory said the moment the hug ended. “I can’t believe it.”
