until this is settled

We arrived at the house without incident, and I stepped inside, noting the smaller size immediately. Cozy, but… fortified. Every window had discreet locks, the doors were heavy, and the walls seemed solid enough to keep out the world. “It’s… safe,” I said quietly, more to myself than him. He nodded, not smiling. “Exactly. And you’re staying here. Until this blows over.” I looked at him, and for the first time, I realized something terrifying—and thrilling: I couldn’t tell if I wanted to leave. Night had fallen, heavy and still, but sleep refused to come. I lay on the small bed, staring at the ceiling, every creak of the house making my heart jump. The house was quiet—too quiet. A shadow moved past the window. My pulse spiked instantly. “Did you see that?” I whispered, sitting up. He was already at my side, silent and fast. His hand shot out, gripping my wrist, steadying me. “Where?” “There—outside,” I said, pointing. Before I could blink, he had disappeared into the shadows, moving with an impossible speed. Jordan was so fast , he looked so sexy with that move he made just now. I was worried so i came close to the main door to wait. Moments later, I heard the faint click of the door locks, followed by the soft thump of a body hitting the ground. I held my breath. My chest felt like it might burst. He returned, dragging a man I didn’t recognize, unconscious. His dark eyes caught mine, and for a second, all the anger and frustration I’d felt melted away into something else—something raw, protective, and terrifying. “You’re not going anywhere,” he said, voice low, almost a growl. “Not while they’re out there. Not while anyone even thinks of touching you.” I wanted to argue, wanted to tell him I could take care of myself. But looking at him, the way he moved, the way every muscle tensed with the need to keep me safe, I couldn’t. I simply couldn’t. He set the man down behind the house, then turned back to me, his gaze burning. “Lock all the doors. Windows too. Don’t move from this house unless I say so. Understood?” I nodded, unable to speak. For the first time, I realized just how dangerous this was—and just how much I was already… tied to him. He was on the phone for so long, pacing back and forth, his voice low and clipped. I didn’t know what to do except sit there, clutching the edge of the small couch, feeling the weight of the silence in the house. Finally, he hung up and turned toward me, his expression unreadable. “The man outside… he was a spy,” he said, gesturing toward the unconscious figure still slumped behind the house. “Sent to monitor us.” I froze. “Dawn… how did things get this bad?” My voice trembled. “How did this even happen?” He didn’t answer immediately. His jaw tightened, and he went silent for a moment, lost in thought. Then, with a quick movement, he returned inside the house. His presence filled the room, dark and commanding, and the anger simmering in his eyes made my chest tighten. “I’m going abroad for the next three days,” he said abruptly. “Huh? And leave me here?” I blinked, stunned. He chuckled at my reaction, the sound dark and a little dangerous. “No, you’re not,” he said, shaking his head. “Not what?” I asked, wary now of the mischievous smirk tugging at his lips. He didn’t answer right away, just studied me, and I felt that familiar thrill of not knowing exactly what he was thinking. Then he asked, slow and deliberate: “Do you want to come?” My eyes lit up before I could stop them. “Can I?” I whispered, a mix of hope and disbelief in my voice. “Yes, you can,” he said, his smirk softening just slightly. “I think it’s a good idea to bring you along. It’s better if you’re around me… so I can feel assured.” I bit my lip, feeling the strange mix of fear and excitement curling in my stomach. Being near him was dangerous, thrilling… and now, the idea that I might not be left alone, that he actually wanted me close, made my pulse race. I nodded quickly, my heart hammering. “Okay… I’m coming.”
