I forward the number to Kelvin to look it up or trace it. He called immediately.
"Hey,” I said.
“Hi, what's up with the number? Any threats?" He asked, and concern filled his voice.
“No,no…uhm… Just one of my coworkers has been receiving stupid text from that number.” I lied; my stomach clenched. I've never lied to him before, and I haven't even told him about the box that I see on my door.
“Okay, but don't let other people's business distract you,” Kelvin said, sounding weird.
“Never, just help me look it up,” I said, tired.
“The person who used it has changed it to a private number." He said
“Really?”
“Maybe the person thought they would trace it, which is exactly what you're doing.”
“So that means it's untraceable?”
"Yeah, but let's see what I can do to it.”
“Okay, thanks; I gotta go,” I said and hung up.
When we reached home, our private doctor was already waiting for us outside. I entered, and the door opened automatically. I laid Anna down for the doctor to treat her; her body is starting to change color, and my heart started beating fast. Please, God, don't let anything happen to Anna because I will f*****g sue the stupid restaurant.
“Calm down; Anna will be okay,” Sean said, looking pained. He adores my sister as much as I do.
“They almost killed my sister!” I snapped.
By the time the doctor finished, she had already zoned out.
“Mr. Ryan, Anna is in good condition now. Relax.”
I released a heavy breath that I don't know I've been holding since.”
“Thank you, doctor,” I said, grateful.
"Anytime, sir," he said as he left. I looked at Sean, who has been quiet since.
“I'm sorry for snapping at you." I said it sincerely.
“It's okay, I understand,” Sean said, still looking pained.
“Are you okay? You look weird.”
“I'm fine; I just almost lost my cool too." Sean said, sighing hard.
"Oh, okay,” I placate him.
“The f**k, she is like a sister to me, asshole,” he groused.
“I never said anything,” I said, chuckling.
He just grunted, “Since we don't get to eat our food to our satisfaction, why don't we order something before Anna wakes up?" I said
“Sounds good—hotdog, pizza, or hamburger." Sean asked
“Since when did you start asking?” I said, furrowing my brow at him.
“Ass”
We're watching TV. When Anna entered the sitting room, we rose up immediately to check her over.
“How are you feeling?” I asked, and concern filled his voice.
"Good,” she said, smiling.
“Are you hurting anywhere?” Sean asked.
“No, I'm not, just starving." I told them, and they turned and showed me all the food and snacks they ordered. Anna rushed to the food and devoured it.
“Don't forget to chew,” I said, laughing at her reaction.
“You don't fire or sue anyone at the restaurant, do you?” Anna asked.
“No,I don't, but I would've if not, Sean." I said I felt exhausted.
“Thank God, I thought as much,” she said, relieved.
My phone started ringing. I checked the caller ID of Mr. Winston, one of my contractors.
"Hello, Mr. Ryan, sorry for calling this late.”
“No problem”
"I'm wondering if we should shift our meeting to Monday, or what do you think?”
“I thought as much.”
“Okay, then,” and I hung up.
“So are you going out for work now?” Sean teased.
“Yeah, with you, jerk,” I growled at him.
“Just one of my contractors told me to shift our meeting to Monday instead of Thursday,” I explained.
“I thought as much because you wouldn't dare when I just got back,” she said, furious.
“Calm your ass; I ain't going nowhere.”
I was doing my tie when Anna banged into my room, glaring at me.
“Knocking was there for a reason.” I groused at her instead of saying good morning. That's how we are when we're together.
“Not like you will bring a woman to our house,” she said, still glaring.
I laugh because that's true. Sean entered, flopping down on my bed. He has stayed here since Saturday because Anna doesn't like sleeping like he used to.
“Are you really going to work?” She asked, scowling now.
“Well, yeah, today's Monday,” I answered.
“Why don't you just spend time with me?”
“You have Sean to do that.”
“Well, yeah, that's the only person that cares about me.”
One hour later, after fighting Anna, I finally got in my car, and the driver took off. I'm still stuck in traffic. When my phone rang, I checked the caller ID,PI (private investigator). I answered, “Check what I sent you and tell me what you found.” I said and hung up.
Not long after I entered my office, my secretary came in.
“Good morning, sir." She greeted frightening
“What's my schedule?”
“You have a meeting with Mr. You at 9:00.”
“Change it to Mr. Winston, and put Mr. Yi on Thursday.”
“Okay sir”
“Anything else,” I snapped when I noticed that she wasn't leaving.
"Nothing, sorry, sir." She said she hurried out of my office.
All my employees fear me because, why won't you? You made a single mistake, and you're fired. Rosa is the fourth secretary I would hire this month alone; all of them are just clumsy and slow.
"Hello,” someone said, banging into my office without knocking. I became furious immediately.
“What the f**k are you doing here? I snapped. I hate seeing her face.
"Hey, calm down, handsome,” she said, smiling, closing the distance between us.
“You make another step, and you're dead. I thought I made it clear to you not to ever show your face in front of me again,” I said in a dangerously low voice.
“Ryan I'm really sorry; I've been trying to reach you since I really missed you,” she said, faking tears.
I scoffed, ”Get the f**k out of my company now. Before I called security to drag you out, who the hell even let you in?” I growled and started closing the distance between us while she moved back.
“You did not even think of what I could do to you before coming here.”
“Pl …please stop there; don't come closer." She said she was shaking, unable to breathe.
I smirked dangerously. “If you ever show your worthless, ugly face in front of me again,” I said in a hard tone.
"Ryan, please forgive me. I really want you back, and I love you,” she said, crying hard.
"As I was saying, if you ever show your face in front of me again, I promised you that would be your last day.
She froze, pale, lips pursed, and shaking.
Good, that's what I want. “So now get the f**k out of my office,” I growled.
She stormed out of my office without looking back. I called for a secretary immediately.
“Yes sir”
“Who the hell let that slut in?” I shouted at her, which made her flinch.
“I …him… I think it's the new security guy." She said she was unable to look up, clamming her hands together.
“And you informed him I refrained from her.”
“I... I do, sir.”
“Fire him and get out of the office,” she gasps and hurries out. I was walking down to the conference room with my secretary beside me when someone bumped me and spilled coffee all over my suit.
What the hell? I shouted.
