Chapter 17
Ray’s phone rang. It was his sister Anne. She’d called almost daily since she’d set the date for the family Christmas get-together. It was to be the day after Christmas so those in the family with kids could spend the actual day at home or with in-laws. That suited Ray just fine for it would free up the day for him to spend it with Br’er. He’d turned down invitations from both his sisters to come to their homes for the day. He didn’t think he could take spending any more time with his homophobic brothers-in-law than necessary.
When Mazie had heard, she insisted the three of them celebrate the holiday at the apartment, complete with Christmas Eve tree trimming and exchanging presents, then a Christmas dinner on the day itself.
