“Now I know you’re nuts!” Mazie said. They were in the kitchen finishing the dinner dishes. Br’er had just gotten done telling her Ray’s story. He’d omitted telling her Ray’s real name and the company he worked for, but told her the rest.
“So, you’re willing to give up a normal life and live like a hermit with this guy who’s stuck in the closet, hidden away in some dingy hotel room?”
“I told you they were five star,” Br’er corrected.
“Whatever. In some five star hotel room, then,” she said in a mocking tone. “Is that the kind of life you really want?”
“Yes!” Br’er said emphatically, then took a deep breath and said, “No, it’s not. But I’d rather have that and the love Ray and I share than the crap I was getting from Rick, Alan, and Troy.”
