One day as Thanksgiving neared, Ray asked Br’er, “How would you like to go to New York with me? We could see a show, take a carriage ride in Central Park, see the New World Trade Center, visit the Ground Zero Memorial, and maybe do some Christmas shopping.”
Over the few weeks following their stay at the Radisson, Ray was true to his word. He and Br’er started to go out more. They went to dinner and to the movies. They visited the zoo and museums. Slowly Ray’s nervousness about being out in public lessened, and although he was still cautious in choosing where and when the pair would go, Br’er could tell Ray was enjoying himself more and more.
