Chapter 15
Ray and Br’er left The Spotted Pig. Ray pulled the sleeve of his jacket back and looked at his new bracelet. He then pulled up Br’er’s sleeve. Ray took Br’er’s arm and pulled him close so that they walked shoulder to shoulder. He held Br’er’s hand. The bracelets, Ray’s on his right wrist and Br’er’s on the left, were next to each other and visible for all to see.
“When did you get these?” Ray asked, indicating the bracelets.
“I saw them in the window at Millie’s. They were in the box, linked together just like they were when you opened it. I felt it was some sort of sign that they were meant for us. I suggested we go in. I waited until you were behind the bookshelves and told her I wanted to surprise you with them. She took care of the rest.”
Ray squeezed Br’er’s arm.
