Chapter Nine:When Loyalty Ends

Isabella POV
“Isabella you must sever your connection with this pack” Cassian commanded his words slicing through the air like lethal poison.
“ What are you saying?” I asked his obsidian eyes, peering into the depth of my soul as those words escaped his lips.
“ I am severing all connections you have with this pack “ he said, his words ringing in my ears .
“ Can you hear what you are saying now ?” My voice cracked through the air in a broken tone.
“ You don't belong here if not for my father saving you back then you would have lost your life “ he sneered his words dripping with malice.
“ He should have left me to die than to live this miserable life under your roof “ I yelled at him, my voice rising above normal.
“ What? Cassian clenched his fists as he inhaled my words.
“ You can't talk to me anyhow, I am your future alpha” which means that you have to respect me “he glared at me before rolling his eyes.
“ Future alpha? You got to be kidding me you are their alpha and you are never going to earn the respect an alpha deserves from me “ I said my eyes burning gritting my teeth.
Just then,the telephone buzzed on the table shattering our conversation and Eliana strode towards the table .
Silence swept over the room as Cassian shot me a stare, his eyes pierced straight into my heart
Her hands pressed down the telephone as she placed it over her ear answering the call.
“Hello hey dad” she said, her voice softening beaming with smiles .
My stomach ripped.
“ You are coming over here to see Alpha Zachary ! “ Eliana muttered, her face brightened echoing in the room.
“Yeah of course when ?Cassian will be very excited daddy “ She added with a playful smile stretching over the edges of her lips.
“ I will be expecting you” she whispered, her voice low and dangerous as the call disconnected with a smirk tugging on her lips.
“My father is on his way! See he won't let me get married to a man who has feelings for his mate “ she whispered her voice filled with disdain as she leaned closer.
“ I don't have feelings for her, you are the only one “ his voice cuts through the room chuckling darkly.
“What are you going to do ?” She asked Cassian with a wild grin which spread across her face.
“She's the reason you wanted me to leave “ I blurted out my blood boiling as I raised my hand to hit his cheek.
“ How dare you slap an Alpha ?“he snapped, his voice laced with disgust looking at me.
“ Yes I slapped you “ I stood up to him blocking all emotions as I expected the worst .
The impact caused his ears to ring, resonating in the room.
Eliana's eyes widened in disbelief as the words died in her throat.
“ I cannot continue dealing with a b***h like you” he snarled and I swallowed hard tilting my chin up.
“I accept to break up the connection with your pack we are no longer indebted to each other “ I murmured jolting at the intensity of anger I felt within me and he gasped in shock.
“I cannot believe you accepted so easily, “ he said, clutching his heart in pain.
“Even if it kills me I will not be with someone like you “ A soft whimper slipped out of my mouth as I held on to the wall for support with blood tasting on my lips.
“ Beg me now and you can keep the low life of yours “ Cassian spits at me.
“ I will never beg you, you two are the same “ I hissed angrily, my chest tightening as I struggled for air.
Eliana wrapped her hands around Cassian's neck who blinked his eyelids at me registering my hurtful words.
“Come on breathe lets go” Eliana whispered her sharp heels clicking against the ground as she assisted him out of the room before I lost consciousness.

“May I come in” I heard a low creak as my door was pushed open,my eyes faintly closed laying down on my bed, my hands trembling wrapped in my blanket.
“I'm sorry I'm not feeling well but I will do your bidding my king “ I whispered trying to get up from my bed as he walked towards me.
“No no no please don't get up It's okay “ he pulled out a chair and sat beside me stroking my hair gently.
“You have to rest, these wolf things are complicated when the human in you rejects your wolf mate and dissolves the connection, it feels like dying “ he said his words laced with concern with his face nearing mine.
“I know the pain you are strong and I know you will get through this “ he added reassuring me with a smile.
“How could you know the pain ? Have you been through something like this “ I inquired my voice cracking.
“ Yes I have been through it so I know what it feels like” he answered my gaze fixed on him, heaving a long sigh .
My heart raced .
“Who would reject the wolf king ? “ I gasped in shock with many questions pondering in my mind about who was his mate.
“Well you rejected your pack alpha so that also sounds pretty crazy “ he teased, lifting my mood slightly, his voice sounding in my ears.
“ But you are not, “ I murmured softly.
“ You don't know my story so stop judging me just by my appearance “ his lips curved into a frown eerily calm and cool.
“ Would you like to hear my story?” he asked, his voice softening.
“I was known as the late bloomer, just an ordinary werewolf not really valued by anybody because my inner wolf did not wake up when I turned eighteen “ he began his voice faltering, reminiscing about his past relationship.
“ That's so sad “ My breath remained stuck in my throat as he spilled down the details.
“And naturally my mate was pretty upset about it. She got rid of me and it felt worse than death” he added lifting his eyes to meet mine.
“ Those times were like a nightmare for me and she never looked back “ my eyes widened swallowing his words.
“ You must love Cassian right “ he asked but I couldn't help the shiver of disgust that rolled down my spine upon hearing his name.
“Don't get me wrong I don't love him he's a horrible person “ I rebutted trying to clear up the air.
“But the pain I know about it she was not really good for me either not at all a nice person and yet still I literally died for her “ a smirk graced on his lips as he averted his attention to me.
“ How did you survive it ?” I asked clenching my jaw.
“It's the way of things but it will pass and then you will recognize true love when you are ready “ an innocent smile formed on his lips as he glanced at me .
