Chapter Twelve: No Longer Your Mate

1205 Words
Benny's POV “She's badly hurt,” the doctor announced, his words heavy as his expression remained blank talking to me. My hair was sticking to my sweat-covered face as my heart pounded against my chest. The scent of different herbs filled the room as the doctor examined her, but I steadied myself to remain calm. The doctor brought out his medical kit from his bag, placing it carefully on the bedside table with beads of sweat drenched on his forehead. I stood by the bedside, my hands clenched by the side with my chest squeezing in pain, gazing at the unconscious Isabella in my room. My eyes fell on the cuts that were slashed against her body, each one deeper than the last, which pierced my soul. “This is simply inhumane,” I said, boiling with anger as I paced back and forth in the room. A cold chill ran down the doctor's spine. The doctor trembled under my gaze as the air stiffened around us. “Is she going to be okay? “I asked, my heart squeezing as I clenched my hands tightly, drawing blood. “She's had an awful concussion,” the doctor replied, and my stomach dropped. My brows furrowed with confusion; my jaw tightened as I dug my nails into my palms. “How could this happen?” I asked with concern laced in my tone, my voice cracking like a whip filling the air. “Alpha Cassian has the best answer, and I will do my best to make sure she recovers,” the doctor assured me, his tone flat, looking at me. “Thank you, doctor,” I replied, patting his hand gently. “It's my pleasure,” the doctor replied, packing up his kit while looking straight into my eyes. As I stepped out of the doctor's office, I heard some voices having a brawl. I looked up and saw Cassian, who had Eliana by his side, engaged in a heated argument with my beta, Cassius. “Where do you think you are going, little doggy?” My beta Cassius asked, his arms pressed against Cassian's chest, impeding his movement. For a moment, he was too stunned to speak. Cassian's eyes widened as he looked at Cassius in disbelief, who stood in front of him. Then, a mocking sound escaped his lips. "Really, has the world gone crazy now?” Cassian asked, raising a brow at my beta. “Now a beta dog dares to challenge me. Have a little respect, little puppy, and let your alpha pass.” Cassian spoke, his jaw tightened as his tone dripped with irritation, standing some inches closer to Cassius. "Look, I'm just following the king's orders, and I can't let you anywhere near the king's guest,” he said quietly. Cassian glared at Cassius as he curled his fists tightly, trying to push his way in, but he couldn't no matter how hard he tried. Then I stepped closer, my arms crossed behind my back with my heavy footsteps echoing in the building. My aura darkened as I stood next to Cassius, who lowered his head. “How dare you be here?” I growled with a scowl covering my face. Cassian lifted his chin, his gaze sharp and cold with his hands clenched to his sides. “I have the right to see her, Benny; she is my mate,” Cassian grunted, his eyes burning as his nose flared up with disgust. My stomach churned. “If anything happens to her, I swear you will pay for it," I swore, pointing my finger at him. Cassian was taken aback at my wrath as my gaze cut through him like a blade wrapped in silk. “You are no longer mates; you rejected her, remember?” I said as something coiled around me tight and bitter. My heart thudded painfully as I looked at Cassian, with a heavy sigh escaping my lips. “So back off and admit it—you just want to steal my female, right?” Cassian's voice floated in the air, his words heavy with conviction. My eyes glowed, the tension in the room suffocating as I made eye contact with him. “She's not yours; besides, you have Eliana,” I announced, and his body vibrated with a wounded look in his eye. "Oh, I see what this is; you got rejected by your mate because she expected you to be another wolf,” Cassian utters, and Eliana shrieks in horror. My eyes were dark from anger; his eyes widened with creased brows. “Is that it, and now you want your revenge on me, and you want to steal my Luna?” he continued, shooting me a careful look. “She will never be your Luna; you can keep Eliana, and as far as I'm concerned, you are perfect for each other,” I said in annoyance, rolling my eyes at them. “If you want the b***h, then you can have her, but I will make her mine until I have had enough of her,” Cassian answered, and pain stabbed my heart like a thousand times as I listened to him talking. “What?” I spat harshly, and his words hit me like the worst form of physical pain Isabella went through. She is not yours, and you will never touch Isabella again without her consent. “I warned him," my eyes freezing cold with color draining from my face. His face went pale as brutality lurked in my eyes. "Is that understood, and that is your king's command?” I said, clenching my jaw in anger. “What are you doing? Get off him, and Cassian will soon be the Alpha,” Eliana snapped at me. “Are you trying to start a war, wolf king?” She demanded. I gritted my teeth, and my lips curved into a crooked smile that sent a nervous tremor through her. “You have taken a servant and disrespected our tribe.” She said, and I glared resentfully at the duo who made Isabella's life a living hell. “Make amends, my king.” She continued, her eyes gleaming with “Amends?” I questioned her angrily in a dangerous voice. “You want your king to make amends?” I scoffed internally, and a bitter laugh escaped my lips. “You need to pay your debt to this tribe in terms of security and trade,” Eliana spoke, and I felt bile rise up my throat. “You are trying to use Isabella as a bargaining chip against me?” My eyes hardened as her words disgusted me to the bone. "Oh, that's low even for you,” I replied with a grin. “Well, try me I will tell everyone how our mighty wolf king is f*****g up our peace because he is stealing someone's mate all because he wants to screw a worthless servant,” Eliana replied with finality in her voice. A smirk tugged at my lips and my blood ran cold. “Get them out of here. I will not want them anywhere near here,” I commanded my Beta coldly with finality in my voice
