ELLE’S POV Between us, the contract lies neatly on the desk. The stack of papers looks deceivingly ordinary, mere ink and signatures. To me, it is so much more—it is yet another step toward what was stolen from me. Jordan leans forward, scanning the terms written and prepared by me. His eyes move back and forth, sharp as a blade. Every now and then, his jaw flexes, revealing the calculations running in his mind. When he finally places the papers back on the table, he speaks with authority, the kind that could break a mediocre negotiator. “Your proposal is… too ambitious. The price is inflated.
