A Little Intro

Three Hours Earlier....   "Land Tenure System is the acquisition of land... " I write as fast as I can cause almost all of my classmates are counting on me.    Agriculture. Can't escape 'em.   "Jeez, girl cool down. We can get you a hot cup of coffee for $20" one of my mates, Laura, said. We all laughed and the lecturer, turned to look at us. All our mouths sealed up immediately and I got the chance to have a break from writing. "What's so funny?" He asked and I gulp "Umm, nothing sir. We are just talking about how fast Sofie writes" Another mate of mine, Simon, said. "And how slow your brain assists you" My mouth dropped and so do the mouths of others.   Simon's cheeks turned pale and his face changed as Miss May, the lecturer, turned back to face the board she was cleaning a moment ago.   I look over to Simon as he packed his things slowly and made his way out of the class.    Everyone watched intensely and then back at Miss May, our eyes went to. "Who else want to go?" She asked. Nobody hesitated to pack his or her things and we all left the class room to follow closely behind Simon. "Hey! Simon wait up!" But he didn't listen. I look at Laura and another girl, Mia. The other guys stared back at us, noticing the way we are breathing. "You girls can wait here, we'll go after him" Mike said and I nodded as all of them ran towards him. "Let's be honest, Laura, it's your fault May talked to Simon" Mia said. "Hey! I was being polite to Sofie" Laura said. "Don't be ridiculous! I have noticed how you use to talk to Simon because of what happened earlier"    "Shut that... " "Enough!" I yell and they kept quiet, both looking at me.    "Mia, no one brought the past to the present! It doesn't matter what happened back then, it's over!"    I turned to face Laura. "And next time, don't do that in class. Everyone will suspect that you did that because of what happened a year ago and... "   I stop when Laura scoffs at me and walked away, leaving I and Mia. "Really?! You... "  I held the mouth of Mia with my palms and she made annoying sounds instead of what she wanted to say. "You gotta keep it down" I whisper and she glared at me. They always fight because of what Simon did accidentally to, Laura. They have been close friends ever since I knew them, three years ago. The second year of my stay in college, they wanted to take their friendship to the next level, but, Laura came the night they were to go out in tears and her face was mushed up, big time. Her eye pencil had created lines on her face, due to the sweat and tears and also pressure she was in that night. She swore never to have anything to do with Simon and since then, ignored him and anywhere that she knew they would meet.   "I told you! That girl is surely something else" Mia whispered and I don't turn my face from the back of Laura. Even if Mia's a little bit harsh, she got a point.   "She won't gain us anything, Sofie. Let's go prepare for the dance, you know we are coming up" she said with a soft nudge on my elbow. "Yeah, let's go" I slowly turned to face Mia and allowed her lead the way out of the college gate to the dance house I always go to whenever I am not in for classes. Or probably just feel like missing classes.   Immediately I step into the backstage of the dancing room, all eyes turned to me and smiles of all kinds broke on every one lips as all the ladies stood up to greet me.   "There she is... The Queen of the night" that's flattering. I mouth "Thank you" to Anna, a friend of mine, also in the dancing business. "Oh Sofie, thank goodness! We have to get you prepared for the next dance tonight" my makeup artist and friend, Lola, said and dragged my arm to the seat she always make me up on.   "Now dearly, you know that you have the firm hand of this dancing thing in your hands, can you do me a little favour to be coming here a little earlier?" She asked as she combed my hair backwards and into a ponytail. "Sorry, had classes today" I said and she  chuckled from behind as she set three hair pins at the right side of my hair. "Since when do people like you take classes seriously, now?" She asks and I smile at her through the reflection on the mirror, she saw me. "I always take my classes serious. Except Biology, of course" I state and she laughs gently. She make me up in silence and I sit and watch as she does it.   She polish my nails, make me up with pink powder and then suggested that I have a change of clothes.   A red suit that's slim and almost look like a jumpsuit. I come out of the bathroom feeling a little bit uneasy, cause the outfit Is a little bit tight. I make my way to the seat and she walks upto me after attending to some other people.    "There! You're all set, Sofie" I look into the mirror at Lola in front of me and smile.   "Aren't you a cupcake now?" Lola said as she lowered her head, her jaw relaxing on my shoulder as we both look into the mirror. "I sure am" I say and we both laugh as she pecked me lightly. "Have Mike said anything, yet?" I ask as I rub my puff on the powder's surface on the table and then pounced it on my face. "He's yet to. Don't worry, my guy ain't going anywhere" Lola said and I chuckled. "Yeah right"    I relax on my cheek the puff of pink powder and spread it lightly, making my cheek to look pink. Then, the door leading to the make up room bursts opens and every lady in the room, turns to know who the person or people are. Guys came in and each of them went to ladies in the room. Except me of course. I catch a glimpse of Lola and a guy, name is Mike, giggling in a type of disgusting manner. Disgusting for me but maybe not for people who thinks it's not. I smile and give her a thumbs up from the mirror and she smiled at the reflection. Sofia Darel is my name and I am a college student of Twenty one. I am yet to get into my third and last year in the university, before moving fully out of college into my dream, as a dancer. I love dancing and I have been trying to make it work ever since I was ten, I kinda like it so...   I watch as the other girls make love to the guys in here, but I do well to mind my own business.   "Well, well. Sofie Darel"  Oh well, guess another guy have located me. P.S: I don't do love. "Hi James, how's life?" I ask, trying to fix my eye pencil. "How does it seem?" He ask as he relied on the table with his elbow. He is facing me and smiling weirdly. I place my make up things down and then turned to face him. "What do you want now?" I ask and he smirked. "Wanted you to come to my table for tonight" he said and I chuckled. "You can't force me" I say and the smirk turned devilish.   "Oh yeah I can" he said and stood, smacking my back lightly and heading upto another girl. I stare at his back and sigh in deeply.   I hear the roaring on stage as drunken men called for more dancers, I guess.   I look up at another guy behind me. I can see his reflection through reh mirror. He can be a bit annoying with his smile, so I just smile and stand up form the make up seat, heading out of the room. I am a college student who have a life as anyone else. An orphan, as of age 17 and since then I have learnt to cater for myself. Which is good. "Next, more dancers... Coming up"  I watch as my group come out of the room and heading to the stage.    Well, here goes nothing.
