She was shocked that he had even decided to spend the night. Is that what he had done? She was not even aware because she had slept for such a long time and she had gotten such a good rest that she was not even able to tell if he had even left at any point or if he had just been staying here with her the entire time.
Adelaide realized that she was feeling a sense of joy by realizing that he had decided to stay with her and she was trying to fight it, but it was not easy for her to do so.
