The ride to the airport was very quite each in their own thoughts.
Sasha's father looked at his daughter through the corner of his eye and sighed.
He knew just how much his daughter was dreading the flight..Even as a child sasha had never been able to withstand long flights. He could quite well predict her agony .
He only hoped he was doing the right thing by sending her to her mother's hometown.
Even though the her grandpa had assured him that she would be well taken care of her still couldn't help but worry, after all, she was his only child, the. only reminder of the love he had shared with Natalie his late wife.
ooh Natalie ! he had loved that woman with all her had..their love had started young with ups and downs and dreams which he had made sure to achieve so that natalie would find a reason to smile wherever she was in heaven.
she had died so young. he sighed again and looked at her daughter who in her own thoughts was staring hard outside the window.
Sasha felt her father sigh once then twice , she could not help but feel a gush feeling of sadness. she stared out of the window deep in thought suddenly feeling nostalgic.
after a very long time she felt the sudden rush of missing her mom. ooh how she missed her..her mother was one of the subjects never to be spoken of.
both of them never spoke of her ..even thinking about her was too painful for both of them..
Even though her mother had died when she was just a kid, she still remembered bits and pieces of memories of them together. her laugh and her scent
" We're here sir" a voice said jolting them from their trance.
huh!?
"we're at the airport sir " repeated the chauffer as he ran to open the passenger seat.
Sasha got out and hurriedly took her things and started walking towards the waiting room.
her father followed in silence .
Her heart heavy with sadness she turned to her father and hugged him
" come visit me sometimes okay?" she said turned and ran towards her flight.
the flight took a bit longer due to weather changes and she slept all through the flight.
" all passengers please put on your seat belts ,we are about to land " a flight attendant s voice said.
Her grandfather had sent someone to get her from the airport. the ride to her grandparents house was also a quite one .
she gazed at the view amazed by the beautiful view of green. she had not been hear since her mother had been buried and even so surely the view had upgraded since she left.
she took out her phone and took a picture of the hill through the window.
somehow her spirit lifted abit as she gazed in wonder as two little lambs ran towards their mother.
on the other side of the window a cow and a calf were busy enjoying the grass.
she had heard her father talk about how big of a ranch her grandfather had but she hasn't imagined the land was that big..
suddenly the car stopped and big gate was opened. just outside the gate was a large post THE M'CKENZY'S RANCH.
Sasha was even more shocked to see how big the house was...it looked like a castle to her...it was even larger than her house back in the city..which was pretty much the largest in their estate.
she knew her mother had come from money she just never knew how much.
suddenly the door opened and a chubby woman dressed in a uniform Came running out with a big smile plastered on her face.
she looked about mid-seventies.
her face was beaming.
"ooh welcome , welcome my dear
you've grown so big my little Twinkie she said
its been a long time since I last saw you
wasn't it during your mamas funeral God rest her soul
she continued as she dragged sasha towards the house
she wasn't given room to talk.
come come now , let's get you settled in quickly .
you're just right on time for breakfast
she continued talking as she walked towards the kitchen.
Sasha followed obediently and wondered how she was going to cope in that place.
she took a quick look around the kitchen which was spotless clean .
there was a steaming kettle and the scent of fresh bacon hit her nose. suddenly her stomach rumbled.
she had not eaten much since she left the house the previous day.
she watched as the lady went around the kitchen doing this and that.
" sit down sit down dear lemme make you something to eat..you must be hungry after a long flight."
"ummm miss...." she started
" Nana, its Nana , everybody calls me Nana" sorry I forgot to introduce myself.
Nana said.
" I'm Nana and I'm the house keeper"
"okay Nana can I have some water " sasha said.
"of course " she replied already pouring her some in a glass.
sasha finished her meal so quickly she even. surprised herself..she had been indeed hungry.
or was that just about the best breakfast she had had in a while.
Nana then showed her to her room and left her to settle in...she found her bags had been brought in and the bed had been made. everything seemed so prim and proper and floor so neat.
she looked through the room examining and her eyes landed on a photo on the wall. she got up and walked towards it to get a closer look.
the girl in the photo looked just like her except that she was wearing clothes from the eighties.
next to the picture was another huge photo of who seemed to be her grandfather and her lookalike laughing.
then it dawned on her of course that was her mother
of course it.would only seem right to give her her mother's room.
she walked some more and found more photos of her mother in her teens especially.
she really had not had a chance to know her mother but now.seeing these pictures gave her some sort of comfort.
she then went and took a shower and finally went to bed to have some sleep.
After sometime Nana poked her head in her room to give her some fresh pyjamas and found her asleep..she quietly went in and placed them.on her table not waking her up.
she looked at her and could not help being amazed at just how much she looked like her mother. her soul rest in peace.
