Power Throw

“My turn.” Legion said as he broke his stance and lunged forward, thrusting his spear at one of the afterimages circling him. A loud metallic clash rang out as the spear struck its target, the exchange revealed a clear victor, as Legion’s strike connected with the real zombie, sending its body flying through the air. The spectating mages were stunned by how swiftly he had located the actual target among the illusions of the after image around him. Without pause, Legion pursued the airborne zombie, launching a flurry of rapid spear thrusts. Though the zombie attempted to block some, it couldn’t fend off the relentless assault from legion as blood began to spurt out from multiple wounds as every strike landed with precision. As he attacked, Legion expertly used his shield, pressing it forward with his left arm to deflect incoming blows, forcing the zombie back with every clash. Before it could regain its footing, Legion slashed horizontally at its head. “It seems Legion has incorporated Titan’s mace techniques into his fighting style again... this golem is a true martial fanatic,” Alec thought, observing with admiration. Sensing the danger, the zombie raised its left hand to block the fatal strike. “Big mistake,” Legion growled in a gravelly voice. As his spear sliced clean through the raised arm, severing it completely, the zombie shrieked in agony just as Legion followed with a swift upward s***h that tore across its face, gouging out its right eye. Blood splattered across Legion’s form, cloaking the golem in the remains of the (Peak) Tier 1 zombie. Still yet Legion was still unfazed by it, as he levelled his spear at the enemy. “This match is over,” Agnes muttered, sighing as she realized her earlier doubts had been misplaced. The wounded zombie turned to flee in panic, but Legion spun his spear once and hurled it like a javelin. That is the weapon tore through the air at breath-taking speed, bolstered by raw power and accuracy. It pierced the zombie’s skull cleanly and drove into the earth beneath it. The zombie twitched violently before going still, completely devoid of life. Legion calmly approached the corpse and pulled his Punisher Spear from its skull. As the bloodied spear left the body, a notification flashed before Alec’s eyes: [New skill created: Power Throw] [Power Throw: Level 1] — (Exclusive to spear weapons only) “This just adds to the list of questions I need to ask the system,” Alec muttered, his thoughts racing. He called all his golems closer, storing them in his space pouch, except for Titan and Legion. “That was so cool, Boss! How did you manage to acquire a golem this strong?” Arthur exclaimed as the rest of the Gordon family gathered around Alec. Alec hesitated, unsure how to respond, and remained silent until the Lanzt family finally caught up. Bryan stepped forward and extended a hand. “Thanks for taking care of this problem and saving all of us.” “No biggie, it was what we were ordered to do, after all,” Alec replied, shaking his hand and brushing off the gratitude. “I guess we owe you one,” Bryan added appreciatively. “Not really. See you later, we have to go,” Alec said, turning back toward the Gordon family. “Wait!” a voice called out. When Alec turned, he saw an old man stroking his long beard, his presence quite strange as if he had been there all along. “Patriarch!” the Lanzt family exclaimed in unison, quickly bowing in respect. Alec was caught off guard by the man’s arrival and felt a powerful aura slightly pressing down on him, trying to force him to bow. Gritting his teeth, he resisted, refusing to submit. Instantly, Legion and Titan stepped forward, trying to shield Alec from the overwhelming pressure. “Hmm, interesting. What’s your name, boy?” the Lanzt patriarch asked. Before Alec could reply, a familiar voice rang out. “Are you not ashamed of bullying my grandson like this? Who do you think you are?” Alec’s grandfather suddenly appeared at his side, stunning the entire Gordon clansmen around. ‘So the patriarch was watching us all along… holding back from intervening to test us,’ the younger Gordon members realized, except from Alec. He had always suspected someone was protecting them. After all, this exercise was meant for training, not death, he just hadn’t expected his grandfather was the one watching. “I mean no harm, George. I’m just curious about his identity,” the Lanzt patriarch said calmly. “Hmph, curious, are you? My grandson saved your people and spared your family from disgrace before the city council, and this is how you thank him, by unleashing your aura on him?” Alec’s grandfather shot back, his tone sharp and unapologetic. The Gordon Younger Generation gasped in awe the next second as their patriarch’s golems suddenly rose from the earth. “It’s the Big 3,” Agnes whispered, her gaze locked on the three golems that had just emerged, especially the one in the center, which exuded a terrifying presence. With its longsword embedded in the ground, it resembled an elite knight clad in dark red stone armour, the stones shimmered faintly, giving the golem a divine yet deadly appearance. As a suffocating aura of pure killing intent radiated from it, strong enough to crush the younger mages if not for the protective barrier casted by the Gordon patriarch. “This has gone too far, George,” the Lanzt patriarch muttered, visibly trembling as he recognized the main attacker among the Gordon patriarch’s legendary Big 3 golems. That golem was Tier 7, just like the old man himself, none had known the Gordons’ patriarch had advanced his golems to such a level. Even the Lanzt patriarch, a Tier 5 mage, knew that confronting the old man would be nothing short of suicide, not to talk about going against his golems. He silently cursed his own arrogance. “Whoa, the patriarch is so badass! No wonder you’re his grandson. The genes definit ely got passed down,” Arthur said in awe, right before Alec smacked him on the head again.
