"How long do we still need to walk?" Summer, one of the escapees asked as she wheezed and panted as she walked among the now dusty path.
"I....I don't know" Dana, the other escapee said as she tried to regain her breath too. They were all injured and bleeding due to the archers that Lieutenant Jade herself had ordered to shoot them because they were escaping. Dana bit her bottom lip as her brown eyes flashed with determination. They had to keep going to create distance between them and their pursuers. If they were caught, they were going to be killed. Her only regret was that they didn't bring their warden with them. Summer, a brown haired girl with chubby like features had proposed for them to kidnap Ivy but Dana had rejected it.
"How do you kidnap a Lieutenant?!" Naomi, the third escapee had asked exasperatedly. She had elfin like features. Though their robes were torn, they proceeded forward till they reached a cave. Dana told them to rest there. Unknowingly, the Lieutenants were got on their trail. Ivy and Jade reached the escapees hideout by dusk and stared at the cave.
"I don't know if your wards are smart or stupid, Ivy, that they think it was a nice idea to camp here. Did they think that it would take long for us to find them? Tsk Tsk. You didn't train them well" Jade commented, smirking at the cave. Ivy clenched her fists and her eyes flashed a blue color. She hurriedly looked away and calmed herself. Since they started tracking the runaways, Jade had always managed to anger her at every point although she did it while smiling.
"On my signal, soldiers, go in there and drag these idiots out!" Jade said in a singsong voice. Ivy looked at the children who had been turned into killing machines and sighed.
"Go!" Dana said and ten of the children rushed into the cave. There was commotion in the cave as the soldiers dragged the escapees out.
"Ow! You swine! Let go of me!" Summer yelled.
"My hair! I will kill you if anything happens to my hair!" Naomi screamed. Dana was quiet as she was dragged outside. She looked at the happy Jade and her eyes landed on Ivy.
"This trio again?!" Ivy mentally facepalmed herself but kept on her stoic expression.
"Well well well, what do we have here? Oh right! We have offenders!" Jade said, giggling.
"I wonder what to do with you guys. Perhaps I should just kill you here!" she concluded, laughing gaily.
"You have no say in our punishment. Only our warden does" Dana stated calmly, still looking at Ivy. Ivy raised her eyebrows and looked at Jade who ignored her.
"Yes, you are right. Only your warden does. You have been very attentive to the rules. However, Ivy here has left you guys to me. So I guess you could say I'm your substitute warden now" Jade replied, twirling her hair, laughing.
"I never left them in your care" Ivy spoke up for the first time. Jade looked at her with surprise.
"Ooh, how I love a good drama" Summer snickered.
"Shut up!" Ivy glared at her.
"Okay okay. Sheesh, no need to go wacko on me" Summer said and rolled her eyes.
"Very well, then. I guess I will watch how you deal with them. if not, I will be forced to act" Jade remarked. Ivy shrugged and walked over to the cave.
"Let's rest for now. Tomorrow, they will receive their punishment" Ivy remarked over her shoulder while entering the cave.
