Chapter 2

Laila POV “Where are you going, my beautiful bride? The show is not over yet!!” This line stopped me in my tracks. I turned to see him standing with a big smirk on his face. He was enjoying every moment of the situation. My heart bled at the sight. Was he the same man whose face shone in my presence? I know that he was playing all along, but still, I loved him for real. And maybe there was still some ounce of love left in my heart when I mustered up all my strength to stand straight up. Maybe my heart still had some sort of expectation when my eyes begged him to say that he was sorry and he couldn’t live without me. He started walking towards me at a slow pace, and all of a sudden he was right in front of me, grabbing my throat and choking my air pipe. “You think I will let you walk out of this place alive? Laila, the moment you walked into this slaughterhouse, you shouldn’t be expecting to walk out alive."All sources of hope and expectation were shattered when I saw pure hatred in his eyes. His goal was clear: my death. A small smile formed on my face; that’s exactly what I wanted. I had no reason left to live anymore; I lived for my pack and for Ace since they both had turned their backs on me. Then I should go and meet my parents in heaven; they are the only ones who loved me with all their hearts. I let my hands fall to the side and closed my eyes to accept what was coming. I never imagined that my wolf, Bella, would oppose my decision. She threw me at the back of my mind and told me to enjoy the show; she was burning with revenge. I saw my eyes open as Bella snatched the silver dagger from Ace’s hands, and in a swift motion, the dagger was in his leg. “You forgot that I was born an Alpha, an Ace. Your pathetic attempts are far too insignificant to kill me,” Bella spoke. However, Ace pulled out the dagger from his leg and smirked. Bella knew that something was wrong when she heard something behind her. She was about to turn her head when the arrows coated with silver threw her way. She successfully dodged all of them but saw Ace already gone behind his army like a coward. Bella shifted to wolf form; she knew that she couldn’t fight all of them in this position. Bella kept dodging the arrows and fighting the wolves that came in her way while I thought of a plan. "Bella, take down the archer on the second floor and jump out of the window behind him." Both Bella and I knew that this wedding alter was built on the edge of the mountain; if we jumped out, we didn’t know if we would survive or not, but it was still better than being slaughtered by Ace and his minions. Within a blink of an eye, Archer was ripped to shreds, and Bella looked behind and mind-linked to Ace, “Live until I kill you with my own hands.” Then Bella and I jumped out of the window. I was far too exhausted to know if I would survive or not; all I knew was that Bella and I were falling with immense speed. Bella told me to go to sleep, as she would make sure that we both would survive this. I couldn’t take it anymore and fell into a sea of darkness. I trusted Bella, the queen of the forest; if the moon goddess wanted us to survive, then she would help Bella. Two days later... “Laila……… Laila………… wake up………………. Please wake up, Laila. You have to help me."I heard Bella calling out for me. I slowly opened my eyes. I was still in my wolf form, and Bella was still in control. In front of me was a beautiful lake with a huge waterfall, and beside it was a field full of flowers. The air was full of energy, and the chirping of the birds felt like a melody to my ears. “Are we in heaven?” I asked her. “Unfortunately not; we have a situation to deal with,” she said to me with extreme nervousness. “What situation?” I asked her, and in answer, she turned around to answer my question. As if all of a sudden, all of my senses returned at once, and the effect hit me strongly. The earthly scent mixed with pine leaves engulfed me, sending euphoria to my mind as if on cue. My eyes met with the most handsome male on earth alive. His electric blue eyes, which seemed as cold as winter, were still on me. His facial expressions, as sharp as a knife, failed to cut the tension in the air. Bella pressed her paws strongly on the ground to resist the pull that was urging her to jump on him. The three of us knew what was going on, while I was still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that this Greek god was my f*****g second chance mate. Though Bella and I both didn’t want a mate after what we went through, the plain face and cold expressions of the Greek God told us that the feeling was mutual. This hurt Bella because he was still her mate and might be her last chance. “I can’t take this anymore; Laila, please take control of the situation,” she begged me. I nodded and let the shift take over. I saw a pile of clothes beside me, and I didn’t have the time to think where they came from. After pulling over the shirt, I saw he turn around to give me enough privacy. I decided to act all cool and tough and walk over him, as I still had much to do before settling down. But before I could say anything, he turned around and spoke up. “You have trespassed the sacred territory of the White Willow Pack; state your purpose!” He demanded, damm!! His voice was music to my ears, sending shivers down my body. “Wait, fuckkkk!! What did he say? Trespassed Lycan’s territory?? Bella!! Why the f**k you didn’t tell me about it?” I yelled at Bella. “Because I was busy drolling over him, now Laila can use your connections and deal with this mess." She again went to the back of my mind, leaving me with a stone-faced Greek god. I knew that hiding my identity here would lead me to my death in a split second. Only power speaks in Lycan’s kingdom. “I am the former Alpha of the Bloodshed Pack, Laila Daiz. My wolf didn’t sense that she entered the Lycan’s territory. I assure you that we mean no harm; it’s just an accident,” I said in as pitiful a tone as possible, though I knew that it didn’t work on him. “An accident?” He walked a few steps closer to me. “You know the security of Lycan’s territory; no one can pass undetected, yet I find you here in the most private part of the territory, and you call it an accident!! Laila, you can’t come in here accidentally unless you fell from the sky." He fumed with anger; it was clear that he was not going to let me off-hook by the fact that I was his mate. His temper was getting on my nerves, but I knew that if this matter reached the Lycan King, then I would be royally f****d. That dam old bastard was famous for his evil nature, cruel ways, cunningness, and last but not least, his thirst for blood. He loved bloodshed, wailing, and chaos. He was a sick bastard who had no leashes. "Well, I know that you won’t believe in me, but I really did fall from the sky. Please let me go. I beg you. Look, I am a weak girl who is weaponless, and I am alone. How the f**k can I hurt anyone? Please let me go. I swear I will reward you handsomely."We both knew that I was lying. His aura was suppressed, so I couldn’t tell which rank he belonged to. In answer, he took another step toward me, and his preying gaze told me that he was out of patience and was ready to kill me. “Wait!!” I shouted when his hand lifted. “You can’t kill an Alpha, and you lowly Lycan are in no position to deal with my case; only Lycan King can deal with cases of high importance. I agree that I don’t want to go and see that old dirty bastard. Can’t you just let me go? You are my mate. Can’t you sense that I am telling the truth? Jus let me go!!” I snapped at him. He seemed suddenly taken aback by my outburst. He was alone; I would have fought him and run, but firstly, Bella was in no position to fight with a Lycan, and secondly, this Lycan just informed me that we were in the middle of the territory and I didn’t know the way out. I expected anything but this reaction from him. He grabbed my wrist, sending shivers down my spine, and started dragging me. I was about to put on a fight when I saw wolves patrolling the area ahead, which meant that I was under watch the entire time. The wolves bowed when we walked past them, and within a matter of seconds, I entered the palace gardens. f**k!! He was right; how did I end up in such a central territory as Lycan’s? I should have been killed by now, but why was I alive? “You really don’t deserve a mate, you cold-hearted dumbass." I burned holes in his back with my killing gaze. “I know” was the only thing he said. The Greek God, who seemed to have some sort of rank in the pack, dragged me into the palace, and I knew that my living chances were only twenty percent. Ten percent came from his position in the pack and ten from my position in the pack. The rest depends on that Lycan King. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I sensed a wave of power coming towards us. My gaze widened when I saw Lycan Beta and Odin. I recognized him from the various royal meetings and banquets. And trust me, he was as f****d up as the Lycan King himself. He was talking to a man that was beside him. “Search in more packs; there has to be a female who has this mark.” He was talking to him but stopped upon seeing us. He walked towards us as the man excused himself. “Alpha!” he bowed. I was about to say there was no need to show me such respect when I realized it was not for me but for the man next to me. “Who is she?” he asked, looking at the Greek god’s hand on my wrist. “The trespasser, and unfortunately, my mate,” he answered, half killing me on the spot with his cold gaze. Well, now I was imperially f****d up!!
