As the pair both approach the end of the abandoned alley, they hear the screams get louder and louder. They come face to face with a strange looking woman cowering in the corner of a door step from an abandoned house. Amelia notices the strange looking lady with her hands over her head in utter fear of her life, before tentatively going over to see if she was okay. Mr Roberts on the other hand, slightly more out of breath than Amelia and stands about a meter away surveying the area trying to find the danger, the reason for the screams. “Hey, are you okay?”. No reply. The strange looking lady still sits there with her hands over her head. Amelia tries again to comfort the lady. “My name is Amelia, don't worry we aren’t going to hurt you, we wanna help you”. from the word help, the strange lady started to lower her hands from her head and slowly started to face Amelia. She replied with this very strong old fashioned London accent however you could tell she was well educated. “M.. my...my name is Annie Chapman”. Mr Roberts' face turns white on hearing her name, like he has just seen a ghost. Petrified, unable to move or speak. “ I waz jus minding me own bizness when suddenly I waz attacked”. Annie starts to get to her feet with the help of Amelia’s outstretched arm. “Did you see who it was?, do you want us to take you to the police station or hospital?”. “Police? HA, don't make me laugh. De jus look at me n see a dirty old prossie.” you see the Sadness pouring all over Annie’s face as she explains to Amelia what the locals and society brand her as. “I did use to be a someone ya know”. She tries to stifle her tears away from her face. Amelia looks at her with not a single thought of judgment. Her one and only thought is to get this lady home and safe. “I've been kipping at this old lodging house down hanbury street. But I don't have enough shillings for tonight so I went on da wonder to try and find a cheaper place ya know”. Feeling a bit concerned about Annie’s well being, Amelia started to think of other alternatives. “Is there no way you can get your hands on some money?” Annie is not really bothered about where she stays, she just wants to get drunk. “I tell ya wat sweethart Der’s a pub down road if ya wanna buy me a few drinks, I know someone there that might be able to help me to”. They both smile at each other as they get up and start to walk away, Mr Roberts quickly grabs her arm. “Amelia, have you no clue who the late lady is?” Amelia looks at Mr Roberts with a puzzled look, Before looking towards Annie, who has now stopped just a bit further ahead of them, waiting for them to finish their conversation. “That is Annie bloody Chapman, Jack the ripper's second victim”. Shocked and scared, Amelia gazed upon her new found friend with fear for her life. “We need to make an excuse and go, we can not be getting caught up in the middle of all this.” Amelia is now getting more and more agitated with every passing second. “What do you mean, the whole point we are even here is to prove that we can be trusted to…” Amelia uses her fingers for quotations on the words “To change the future”. “It is your bloody fault we are here in the first place”. Trying to pretend that he is not scared, Mr Roberts adverts his attentions to making it clear he is doing this to try and protect Amelia. “ I know very well this is my fault and you are here solely because of my actions. So therefore you are my responsibility so please let’s go”. Amelia was having none of it. “What if this is why we are here. To save their lives? To get some closure for the families? To prove once and for all who this bastard really is.” Mr Roberts, almost defeated, gives in. “Fine, let's investigate further. However we need to proceed with caution and think about things before we start taking action. We need to be switched on and ready for whatever might come our way. But most importantly, you are not to leave my sight whilst we are here, understand ?” “with all due respect sir I am 18 and not a baby so I…. Mr Roberts cuts her off “UNDERSTAND?” With a bit more force he asked again, raising his voice slightly louder and his eyes opened wider trying to hit home his message. “Yes, yes I understand. Now can we please go, she is going to think we are up to something.” reluctantly Mr Roberts agrees. “Right, let's follow.”
