He put his arms through the bars, and she grasped his hands thankful to be able to touch him. She had so much to say to him before she begged him for his forgiveness. Mary-Michael took refuge in his strength. It beckoned her so much that she fell into the window, imagining there was no barrier there and that his body was next to hers. He held her as close as he could, and Mary-Michael struggled to catch her breath. She feared his reaction when he learned the truth. Behind her, Lia cleared her throat.
