Chapter 13
Cillian
I was dropped home by Zara and Brodric rather early; I took my phone out and texted Delphine It was nice see you tonight Cillian I waited a few moments for her to respond as she was probably still at the party dancing. Good to see you! :-) I made my way to the back door and shifted the moon was blight adequately lighting the Forest floor as I ran, the sound of my paws bonding the below earth. It felt good to run, smelling the Forest scents as I leaped through the trees. I made it to the clearing near the waterfall, I could hear it gushing over the rocks as the recent rain had filled the rivers and creeks turning the soft drizzle of the falls into a fierce gush. My ears also pick up a sound, a heartbeat that was close as I turned around there was a figure in a dark hood walking out of the trees his head lowered hiding his face, my senses told me to be weary. The figure continued to not walk but glide towards me, I notice in one hand he was holding a silver dagger pointing it towards me. I arched up could this be who had killed the nymph. I growled loud as I am no ordinary werewolf, I am an Alpha and a future king and this hood should know this will not be easy for him. The figure threw a small sack beside me that exploded into a purple mist the scent of wolfsbane filtered through my nose slightly burning and weakening me; The figure drew closer trying to take advantage of my stunned wolf when a black flash leaped across me. As it turned I could see the emerald green eyes I have met before that now stood in front of me, protecting me. The figure threw another wolfbane sack next to the black wolf who peered down at it as the purple mist surrounded it, but did not seem phased and stepped through it with ease a smugness about them. I had never seen a werewolf not effected by wolfbane before and the hooded figure shared that same surprise as they started to step backwards clearly realising that their wolfbane was not going to work on this black wolf. I slowly started gather my strength back up there is no way he could take on two werewolves. The black wolf lunged at the cloak taking snaps at its body. The hood fending her off with swipes of the dagger, Through the corner of my eye, I could see the figure lunge the silver dagger into the black wolves side not before the wolve tore flesh from their forearm. The black wolf dropped to the ground just as I leaped towards them the figure scurried into trees, I chased after him yet he had disappeared without a trace. I returned to the black wolf laying there and howled a distress a call that allowed the Fae in the Forest to know that the Forest is not safe. I shifted back to human form and looked at the electric emerald green eyes peering back at mine trying to fight off the pain they would be feeling. She saved me from the hood figure, I ran my hand over the black fur where I found the incision, I could feel that a part of the dagger had broken off in there preventing her from shifting back or starting to heal. I picked her up and carried her the 15miles back to my house. I mind linked Marco on the way to meet me with his mate Jules, I got to the back door and Marco met me there taking the black wolves from my arms and taking her through the kitchen. I followed pulling my pants up to the dining table where Jules had her medical gear ready, Marco lowered her to the table the black wolves’ eyes started to shut from the pain of silver poisoning which is too great to fight through.
“She was stabbed with a sliver dagger, I think part of it snapped off in her” I said, Jules took out some tweezers and trying to locate silver imbedded
“I can see it, it is there but I just can’t get hold of it” Jules said, she leached for a scalpel
“What are you doing with that" I asked
“Jules needs to widen the cut so that she can get the tweezers in and get the silver” Marco exclaimed shinning a touch over Jules head toward the incision, I returned to the Wolf’s face and notices she has bits of flesh still in her mouth, I pulled them out putting them in a container from Jules' medical kit “What’s that” Marco asked “The flesh of what did this, she took a bite out of him” I said with a smile “Tough wolf” Marco said to which I nodded “I got it” Jules said feeling revealed placing the dagger tip in the same container.
“Can one of you get a blanket to cover her” I grabbed the throw rug off the lounge and covered the wolf. Slowly the wolf started to shift back to human form, the black fur disappearing and long black hair framing an all too familiar angelic face of Delphine.
“Oh my God! It is Delphine” Jules exclaimed bringing her hands to her mouth mimicking the shock of her tone.
“You know Delphine” I asked
“Yes of Course I know her, she is the princess of Burvich” Jules said
“Isn’t your cousin Arlo married to the princess” Marco asked
“Yes, he is married to Leora, Delphine is the youngest” she said. I looked at Delphine’s faces her eyes closed and lips slightly parted, her heartbeat sounded slow. I could not believe she was a princess. She certainly didn’t act like one or like any of the noble girls I knew, She was just so relaxed and easy going I thought.
“Can you get me some clothes for her” Jules asked, both Marco and I looked at Jules in a perplexed way.
“What? You think the princess wants to wake up here naked under a throw rug? You need to keep her warm while she heals” I walked into my closet looking at the arrayment of clothes not knowing what to get. After some time Jules burst in behind me grabbing a t-shirt and rummaged through my shorts finding the smallest possible pair, returning to Delphine. Jules stood there with the clothes and looked back at Marco and
“Do you both mind? some privacy for her” we both embarrassingly left the room and stood out the front on the porch letting Jules put the clothes on her. Jules opened the door holding the container. “What are we doing with this” she asked “It needs to go to Joanna; the council knows and is investigating this would really help” I replied
“Jules and I will take it to Joanna now” Marco exclaimed putting his arm around Jules
“Jules! Maybe do not tell your cousin about Delphine, I feel like it should be something she tells her family herself” I said, Jules nodded and respond
“Yes of course. You should maybe move her from the table, she will need to rest properly to heal” she called out getting into Marco's car. I returned to Delphine my t-shirt loosely hung on her, I picked her up and walked her to my room resting her in my bed covering her with a quilt. I took the discarded throw rug and a pillow and placed it on the floor next to the bead and changed out of my pants to boxers laying down on the floor by the bed hearing her slow breaths against the sound of the fire crackling from the lounge room. I woke not an hour later to the sounds of her shivering; I placed my hand on her shoulders which were cold to touch. Recalling Jules telling me that she needed to stay warm, I moved myself behind her wrapping my arms around her letting my body heat warm her skin, still asleep she nuzzled into my arms and there we slept.
