Chapter 16 Cillian “We are up to three Fae dead, an attempt on one of our kings! We need be proactive about the situation” Lomax bellowed. The council meeting was crammed every representative from a Fae division was present at the cathedral of Uriel. Morag was beside him nodding the little man had a furious look in his eyes as he continued to wipe sweat off his head. “We should be gathering the hunters, forming a plan” Clare the hunter’s representative exclaimed! she stood there, her blonde dreadlocks slightly pinned back her tank top exposed a series of healed scares and tattoos from a life of service. Brodric and I sat there in silences, it was not often that members of the Fae who were not council members were allowed to attend these meetings yet given last night’s incident Lomax had us attend to share the werewolf representation. Joanna stood at the gold lectern commanding this evening’s meeting, “Everyone, please be seated” she sternly said to which all council members returned to their seats. “I understand everyone’s concerns, I too agree we need to be proactive in this situation. However, there is no point in running out there not knowing what or who we are looking for” she stated. Morag stood up “The perpetrator has been seen Joanna, a hooded figure” he protested the siren member next to him, stood “Didn’t one of the wolves get a piece of him?” The cathedral erupted with fae all shouting out questions, Joanna raised her hands to silence “Yes, this is true...” Before Joanna could finish her sentence, the doors flew open, a tall werewolf equal to my size walked in dark hair parts of it shaved the rest in a braided mow hawk exposing scalp tattoos and a dark maintained beard, he commanded the room as he walked down the aisle nodding to Joanna as he took a seat next to Clare the hunter. “As I was saying, yes, we know what he looks like a hooded figure or average Fae height, Her Royal Highness Delphine of Burvich Kingdom was able to provide us some of his flesh that I am currently working out what he is and what method to track him. We cannot hunt for something we do not know, that would be problematic” Joanna exclaimed “Well can the wolves pick up a scent. Can’t they sniff him out” Morag asked turning to look at me. “He had no scent; I could not smell him in particular just a range of different scents” I said in reply. The Viking looking werewolf stared at me his eyes focusing on me. I felt a little uncomfortable and shifted in my seat, I was not often intimidated by other wolves as my own size alone had me towering over most alphas. “Umm so you want to share something with me” Brodric mind linked me, I looked at him confused “Delphine? Is the wolf you have been spending time with? Messaging?” He asked. “Yeah, it is complicated” I said “Why?” he questioned “It is a long story I’ll tell you later” I responded as Brodric rolled his eyes. The council wrapped up the meeting in agreement that Joanna would complete her spells and we would set out a tracking plan once she was ready. Brodric started to head for the exit “I need to speak to Joanna” I said as I turned diverting to her, Brodric followed “Oh Cillian, hello, I am working on the sample, and I will let you know” she exclaimed. Just as I went to speak, the Viking looking wolf walked up to Joanna, her eyes lit up as she leaned in and hugged him. “Aunty jo, how are you?” He exclaimed. “I am fine kiddo” she said in a loving manner. My facial expressions were that of confusion which was clearly notices by Joanna who gave a laugh. “This is King Varouk of the Burvich Kingdom, his mother was my closet friend” then pointing at us “This is the first Prince Cillian and Prince Brodric of the Alceid mountain Kingdoms” we both shook his hand his eyes were the same shade of green as Delphine’s, but his hair had more of a warmth with chocolate brown and gold texture I could see protruding through his braid. “So, you were the one in the forest with my sister he said” holding a little tightly to my hand. Brodric’s face could not contain the grin forming as he processed that Delphine who I clearly liked was the baby sister of this intimidating wolf. “Yeah, she definitely saved my life” I said releasing my hand from his. “Sounds like her, one of the best fighters in our kingdom ” he explained. It did not cross my mind until now that the Burvich Kingdom was know for their warriors even the women were known to be some of the most fierce and skilled fighter even my father told me stories of their victories. “So, you are friends or something” He directly asked his jovial tone shifted into a more matter of fact tone. “Umm, yeah we are” is all I could mutter out, Brodric turned slightly hiding his grin that was expanding as he minds linked me Oh man, he is going to kill you “That doesn’t seem much of an answer” he exclaimed his eyes glaring into mine, he was right it wasn’t much of an answer. “All I meant was that we only met recently” I said “Where is Delphine now” Varouk asked unsure if he was asking me or Joanna “I dropped her back to her dorm this afternoon” I explained, Varouk’s eyes narrowed at me “this afternoon?” he asked, his body stiffened Joanna reached her hand on Varouk ’s arm in an attempt of reassurance “Delphine had to have part of a silver dagger removed, the silver entered her blood stream poisoning her and she needed to rest before she was able to move” Joanna explained “ And what she was just left at this random wolf’s place?” Varouk remarked “I am not a random Wolf” I retorted, the anger building up in me “You were the one that said that you just met her” Varouk replied. “Okay, you both need to stop” Joanna said looking around at the partly emptied room, the remaining Fae were looking in our direction. “Yeah well…. I need to be going anyways” Varouk said, as he walked back to the group of hunters. “Do not mind him, he hasn’t had it easy. Delphine is one of the last few family member’s he has left” Joanna explained. “Yeah, I get it” I said, we stood there for some time, while I mustered up the courage “Joanna, the other week when I told you I didn’t have a mate what did you mean when you asked if, I was sure?”
