Chapter 7

Cillian I walked back to Elphaba to my black dodge that was parked right out the front, I know I could have easily offered to drive Delphine, but I wanted to spend more time with her and the nearness of being under the umbrella just would not have happened in the car. I had never been around a wolf like her before, being completely unknown by her was a pleasant change. I detested the female wolves from my pack growing up, the way they would throw themselves at Brodric and I was truly shameful It is hard being a heir to a throne as you never quite know who is your true friend or who is just wanting to associate with you for your position, I am fortunate that I have Brodric and Marco my cousin I always knew I could trust them and just be myself however I still wear a mask hiding my true self to a certain point. I have never seriously dated anyone just like friends I never could truly tell which girls liked me for me or just liked the idea that I was a prince so I stayed clear of the ones in my pack, when I first came out here I just try to socialise but as soon as they realised who I was I could tell their they desired the power more than me but I felt that Delphine was different. She never asked me where I ranked in my pack seemingly uninterested and more focused on knowing my personality or discussing books, I was shocked that we shared the same reading list including some of my most eclectic reads that are less known. I could tell that she was attracted to me and attraction that I shared however it was not the overwhelming pull that Brodric described but there was something there I thought. It would have to be a mate pull that took me to the cafe today, a cafe I never once’s visited or even knew of. Although when we touched there was not sparks no scent that overpowered my mind, yet I could feel my own wolf stirring inside of me the closer I moved to her. I pictured the way she moved into me as my hand touched her back and how she blushed as I kissed her cheek, she captivated my mind even now 30min after leaving. I arrived at my house that backed on to the Ureil Forest, the rain by this time had stopped and the clouds had parted letting the bright full moon to radiate down. I walked through my house until I reached the back door kicking off my shoes and dropping my clothes into a pile, then on my back patio I shifted and started to run my paws thumping gold light shone from his hands, he trailed them across her body finalising them over her face where the Viola disintegrated into gold flakes “What is he doing?” Brodric whispered, Marco and I shrugged “I am mourning idiots” Morag squawked at us as he stood up waving his hand in agitation, he was a little guy maybe just half my height, tuffs of hair poked out of his plaid ascot hat. “Oh, we meant no disrespect” I explained. “Who are you?” he said pointing his finger and tapping it on my chest before I could answer Lomax the werewolf council member interjected. “He is Prince Cillian the 1st of the Alceid Mountains, he is also the one who found her and alerted us Morag” he said as he stood by my side, he was followed Joanna the Coven leader of the witches. “Oh, well my apologies Prince” he said whipping perspiration off his forehead with his sleeve, Joanna bent down near the Nymph and studying every inch of her, she pulled a jar out of her bag and nodded to Morag before she scrapped bits of the Nymphs blood into it. “Was there anything strange you noticed your highness, before you found her?” Lomax asked “Nothing out of the ordinary, just another wolf was out running which is normal. I did smell liquorice, that is what drew me to this part as it is not normally a scent of the Forrest I run through” I said, “Did you say liquorices?” Joanna asked, Lomax helped her up as she stood tall in comparison to Morag.
“yeah” I looked perplexed as Brodric also shrugged his shoulders “There are some potions that use anise that can mask their scents” she explained as she pulled a pocket notebook out and noted it down “yep, you think this was a planned attack” Lomax asked “The council will meet in the morning and go from there” Joanna stated giving myself and Morag a nod she turned and disappeared into the forest. “You, Prince Brodric and Marco should probably go home now, the council will take it from here” Lomax said we all nodded and turned to make our way half a mile to where Brodric parked his car “Oh, and this is official council business, completely confidential so we would appreciate your discursion” Morag called out, we nodded in agreement and got into Brodric’s car. “This is not good is it Cillian” Marco asked as we drove back to my house. “No, Nymphs pose no threat. I just do not know who this would do” I gazed out of the window looking at the moon. “What Wolf in the forest” Brodric asked “Just black wolf with green eyes” I said turning to look at Brodric whose eyes never diverted from the winding dirt road. “Are you sure green? Thought in wolf form we could not have green eyes” Marco asked “That is what I thought the first time I saw them but tonight I am 100% sure they are green” I explained “You have seen this wolf before” Brodric said “Yeah, a few weeks ago” I replied, we arrived at my home, and I went back inside as Brodric wanted to get back to Zara and the same was for Marco and Jules, as they started to drive off Marco hung out of the car window. “You know maybe there is no black wolf with green eyes? Maybe your subconscious is telling you it is time to look for your mate” he said with a grin. I rolled my eyes at him and went inside.
