The night was colder than usual. We took some lanterns to help us see as the sun sank behind the trees. My body and mind are anxious as we walk through the woods looking for Ashton, or any sign of his location. The trees are bare of leaves and the shadows from our lanterns are playing tricks on my mind. "Princess," Mykel's head guard Lennox says, bringing me out of my daze. "Stay alert." "Right, sorry," I mumble. "Dark woods are the last place you want to lose your head," he says, walking in front of me. "Kennah," Kayden says, coming up from behind me. "We will find him." "What if we're too late?" I whisper. "Ashton is the greatest fighter we have," Kayden smiles. "He won't go down without a fight." I nod, realizing he's trying to calm me down.
