"Kennah," I hear from behind me as I enter the castle and see Ashton hiding among the shadows.
"Ash," I breathe, huffing from my run inside the castle.
"Are you okay?" he asks, looking behind me. "Are you in trouble?"
"I was in the stables, I have to get to the library," I breathe. "Kayden told me to read something, and I forgot about it."
"I would come with you," he says with a sorry smile. "I should probably stay away for a little."
"You are my head guard," I remind him. "You have a job to do."
