Garry’s widened eyes caught Laura’s attention. She pulled away from the kiss at once. Their gazes met, close enough that everything seemed to blur at the edges. Her lips curved into a smile, but not the playful kind she had worn earlier. This one felt different, quieter, almost reverent. “You…” she whispered, letting her hand drift downward without finishing the thought. “Yeah?” The tension between them thickened, warm and reckless.
