Days slipped by quickly. Ever since that family moved into the house beside Abe’s, they often invited him to join them for dinner. Abe didn’t like refusing, yet he also felt too lazy to accept every invitation, so out of the many times they asked, he only agreed to a few. More often, he turned them down by saying he had already eaten outside, or he would hang around at Garry’s place until dinner time passed. Like before, that evening happened to be a warm and bright Saturday night. Abe came home after dinner hours and chose to sit on the balcony of his room on the upper floor. He sipped a cup of bitter black coffee, a small stack of assignments resting beside him, untouched. As a student who existed somewhere between average and unproblematic, Abe was the type who often delayed his tasks
