I stood frozen in the middle of the living room, the echo of Migumi’s hurried footsteps fading into my ears. I stared at the spot where she had disappeared from with a hint of confusion and disappointment.
Deep inside, I knew that her sudden retreat wasn't a rejection but a reflection of her own fear and uncertainties. I understand that it's hard to trust again after what she's been through.
‘Why the hell are you just standing there?!’
My wolf, Speed, blurted inside my head. I emotionlessly diverted my eyes away from the main staircase.
“We shouldn't force her…” I briefly replied, earning a silent groan from my wolf. I could almost feel him struggling to take control of my body but he could never do that unless I granted him the permission to do so.
