Chapter two emma

18th birthday

Heading out of the house to my best friend, Natalie. She was coming home after being away for 2 months, with her family. They were doing something for my father. Hoping my father didn’t find out about our friendship. Today was the day, I get to see my wolf form. I was so excited I couldn’t help but show it through every step. As I walked through my father’s small area, he was able to call his own. I didn’t care if people seen how happy I was, today was the day I would have to leave, but least then I would know my father couldn’t hurt me anymore.

Finally at Natalie’s home, I looked around before darting behind the home. Not wanting anyone to see where I was going, I didn’t want to get them in trouble, by my father. I knocked until someone answered the door, the door opens, I was greeted by Natalie’s little sister.

“Julia hey, where’s Natalie.”

I stared at her. Still couldn’t believe that she has the most adorable little face with the cutest button nose ever. Her light brown hair lay just on her shoulders. Her little hazel eyes, filled with excitement to see me. But was scared, I would normally wait till night-time, to see Natalie. It was less dangerous, the adults would have been out hunting for food.

I began to bounce up and down with excitement. Tonight, was a special night. Julia steps aside, pointing to the living room. Stepping inside the house, it was in complete darkness. As I gain near to the living room, I see small flickers of light. As I step into the living room, they had an openfire that made the room warm, it was lovely. I see Natalie lying on their three-seater sofa. Snoring, she even had drool coming out of her mouth. Causing me to laugh seeing her like that. I pinched her nose, and she quickly wakes up. Attacking me to the floor causing me to lose my balance, she was now on top of me. I’ve never seen Natalie like this before, but slowly, I start to see her calm down, as she realised it was me.

“Are you stupid?! Emma I could have taken your throat out. Have you forgotten about me having my wolf!”

Raising my hands up in a surrender motion

“you’ve been away for a few months. I forgot I was just excited, that your home.”

Natalie throws her hands up as she storms off. I get up to follow her, but she slams the door. Just leaving me with her little sister. Feeling a tug on my top, I look down.

“Natalie didn’t mean to storm off she has had a tough time. when she was away, mummy and daddy end up really hurt, Natalie was looking after me.”

Now filled with guilt, I did not know; I hadn’t heard from Natalie the hole time she was away. I was too scared to ask, in fear my father would have worked out my concern. Taking a deep breath, I look at little Julia.

“Your mommy and daddy….”

trailing off not able to bring myself to finish the sentence. Julia’s eyes fill with water as she nods, tears fall from her face. I grab her and pull her in for a tight hug.

“I’m so sorry Julia, I’m so sorry.”

I began to cry, hugging her in, not wanting to ask anymore. I didn’t want to make her anymore upset. the excitement for tonight was gone. I no longer wanted tonight to happen. Knowing I could not help my best friend grieve. She turned eighteen when she was away. Which meant tonight was not just my night. Natalie had till midnight, before she became exiled from the pack. Which also meant she could not be with me for my first shift. Worse of it all, she wouldn’t be able to take her little sister with her, it was against my father’s rules. Pups had to stay with their parents. Because Natalie’s mother and father where no longer here, meaning Natalie had to act fast, my father would kill Julia. Meaning the three of us where in danger, he wouldn’t want to be responsible of feeding and orphan.

Lost in my thoughts, I wanted to save Julia. Looking up, it had just turned 7pm, sweet Julia was asleep still hugging me. Feeling terrible and worried for her. Deciding she would be more comfortable in her bed. As I leave Julia’s room the front door opens, my heart began to race. Was it my father? did he find out I was here? If so Natalie and Julia were in danger, they were already in danger with their parents not being here. With shaky hands I look over the doorway to my relief, I see Natalie walking in. Taking a deep breath as I walk towards her.

“I’m so sorry I didn’t know!”

I wrap my arms around her to give her a hug, but in frustration she pushes me away.

“Just leave Emma, I don’t want to talk!”

I didn’t want to leave her. I didn’t have a choice, the day was going quickly. Accepting my defeat, I nod before leaving. I wanted to know what happened, but I could tell it was still too raw of a subject to discuss.

“If you need me, am here for you no matter what.”

I didn’t know how else to word it, either way there was a chance we would not see each other after tonight. We would both have to leave, meaning Julia was losing her sister too.
