Chapter three emma

5 hours before midnight

Walking back home preparing myself for midnight. I hear a voice in my head. It was a strong deep male’s voice.

“Don’t be so blue!”

“Erm Who are you?”

“Your destined mate. You not heard about mind link.”

“Destined mate?”

“No-one has talked to me about mind link.”

“When you’re getting closer, to your first shift. It’s only then when you feel your mate nearby. You get a strong pull towards them.”

he chuckles softly.

“I’ll teach you about mind link, if you let me.”

Confused by the encounter of the strange male voice in my head. I walk a bit faster to my home. Praying my father was not home, I was not up for the abuse tonight.

Opening the front door to my relief, it was quiet, and the lights were off. I was happy using this time for me. I might not have Natalie there, but what will happen with Julia if Natalie and I end up exiled from the pack. I would not want any pup to go through what I did. If my father did decide to keep her in the pack.

“Do you always talk to yourself.”

“Get out of my head.”

Annoyed with myself, he was able to hear my thoughts? there must be away to turn it off, when you needed privacy. I could hear him giggling loudly.

“If you know what you are doing. Then yes of course you can turn it off. But that takes practise. Something am guessing you’ve never had classes running up to the time of your shift.”

Classes for your first shift really? I didn’t know that was a thing, but then again, my father never wanted any new pups learning anything to do with the wolf life. We were going into it blindly, then not long after. You were booted out the door. No longer part of the pack. I wondered if Natalie new of any of this? It would give me a good reason to check on her before I had to go to the meadow for my first shift.

The second I was there I don’t knock, I allowed myself in and Natalie was sitting on the same sofa as before. With her knees up to her chest and I went over concerned for them both, it was clear Natalie was scared for Julia. Hoping I could comfort her. Trying to break the sadness filling the air.

“Did your mate start talking to you the weeks before your first shift?”

Natalie lifts her head with a surprised look I could tell she had been crying. Through sobs she nods her head. It felt weird asking questions as we weren’t allowed to.

“Yeah, I thought it was a lie and I was going crazy, as my mother and father never talked about it.”

I looked at her and shuck my head.

“I don’t think it’s a lie, I’ve just had a male voice talk to me.”

Natalie looks at me with wide eyes as if to realises that it must be true. But then her face filled with sadness as she realises what tonight was for me.

“I am so sorry Emma I forgot! after losing my parents and now possibly my sister too.”

Natalie wipes her eyes, and she looks at me tilting her head, she was trying to read my thoughts. I was scared of my first shift, but I didn’t want it to show the real truth was not knowing what my father will do to me. But Natalie pulls me from my negative thoughts.

“I have been having conversations with this male voice in my head for months now. He’s been traveling with his alpha.”

I nod my head as I was trying to focus on what she was saying, hoped it would be an easy task for them to find each other. If this was true and your first connection was with your mate.

“If you find him, I will look after Julia for you I promise.”

Nodding her head as though she understands. But we both knew the truth we would be, exiled from the pack. But neither of us could bring ourselves to think what would happen to Julia if she was left, In the care of my father shaking my head not wanting to think of it any further, the voice from before was back.

“If you become Luna to an alpha of a pack. You do not have to leave as your mate. Who will become your alpha can challenge the alpha of your pack! Your alpha really does not know the rules. The true pack rules when followed correctly no one has to leave, just the old alpha if he leaves alive.”

“Well, when your eighteen, you end up exiled from the pack. It is only those that fought with my father that could stay with the pack, if you have pups they could stay until they turn eighteen but your exiled either way.”

I hear aloud laughter leaving my ears ringing.

“Don’t worry my Luna, I will save you soon!”

What he said was stuck on repeat. See you soon? Luna? Me?
