I turned my gaze toward the row of chairs behind me, each one inviting, as if promising relief from the whirlwind of emotions threatening to drown me. My feet felt heavy as I took a few unsteady steps and dropped into the nearest seat, feeling my whole body sink into it. I let my head fall forward, resting in my hands as my fingers pressed against my temples as if hoping to steady the storm inside.
