After five days, Evans finally regained conscious. He saw the doctors looking at him as if they were waiting for him to say something.
They were very excited to see him blinking and moving his body.
One of the doctors said, "It is good that he has woken up. Otherwise all our efforts would have gone down the drain."
Evans was confused to see the excitement of the doctors. He looked at one doctor and asked.
"Why are you so excited?"
"Because we fulfilled a promise that we made," the doctor replied.
As he was about to ask the next question, another doctor handed Evans a paper.
He was confused after seeing the paper. He got the paper and saw that something was written on it. It read:
________________________________________________________
Dear Evans.
If you are reading this, that means that my prayer has been answered. I have prayed that one day you read this letter.
You have a dream of serving others. But now I'm serving you, it's like I stole your dream because you stole my heart.
I really like you. It's just unfortunate that I had to tell you this through a paper.
I worked at Food Restaurants because I wanted to earn enough money to cure my liver disease. I had only few months of living . I had saved enough money to pay for my operation, but I figured that you needed it more than I did.
For that matter I gave you my heart and paid for your operation with the money that I saved.
It is safe to say that I left my heart with someone I love so dearly.
If you died, I wouldn't have been myself. So for me to save two souls, I gave you my heart, at least now we will be together, forever.
Now promise me Evans that you will find someone who will love you more than I ever loved you. I'll be your guide for that.
Love,
Kimberly.

Evans cried his eyes out. The doctors tried to comfort him but they failed.
After several minutes a doctor explained," Son, when you had an accident, your heart was not responding in a normal way. You needed a heart transplant immediately. Or else you would have died. But consider yourself to be lucky. If it wasn't for her you would have died."
"Get out!" Evans yelled at the doctors. The doctors understood his situation and left him alone.
Evans cried day and night. He remembered the pointless times that he spent with Emily when he should have been with Kimberly. He asked himself how he was so blind not to see Kimberly's love and all that she went through.
After hours of thinking, he realized that he too loved Kimberly but it was too late for him to tell her.
A week later he was discharged from the hospital. The first thing that he did was to break up with Emily. He then went to "Food Restaurants" and asked an employee where Kimberly lived.
When he received the address, he went there quickly. He found Kimberly's father seated outside under a tree.
Evans approached Kimberly's father. Kimberly's father knew everything that happened and why.
"What are you doing here?" he asked in an angry tone. He continued,"Aren't you satisfied with what you have done?"
Evans finally managed to calm him down. Evans them made a promise to Kimberly's father.
"Just as your daughter was by my side, I promise to be by your side. I will always serve you."
Evans knew that his dream was now a reality. He stood by Kimberly's father in good times and in bad. He paid for the school fees of Kimberly's brother.
Whenever he would look at Kimberly's brother he saw Kimberly smiling. And that made Evans him happy.
Evans later graduated and found a job. He bought a house for Kimberly's father and took her brother so that he could raise him as his own brother.
