The Park

The next day, Saturday, Evans decided to visit Emily since they had no classes. Evans wore his nice clothes. He also bought a nice black expensive wrist watch for Emily.

When he arrived at Emily's place, Emily and her parents were not home. Evans had no other option but to wait at the verandah.

Few hours later, Emily and her parents came back home. Evans got tired of waiting so he slept while leaning against the wall.

He heard the car pulling up so he woke up quickly and fixed himself up. Emily's parents greeted him and went inside.

Emily walked up to Evans.

"Hi, so what did you bring for me?" she curiously asked him.

"I hope you like it," he reached into his pocket and pulled out the watch.

"Awww, is this for me? You shouldn't have," Emily said.

Evans was happy to see Emily happy.

Emily asked in a sweet voice, " So darling when are you taking me out?"

"Very soon." he assured her.

"So how are you?" she asked Evans.

They went inside and talked for about an hour. Mostly Emily talked about the things she would want Evans to buy for her.

Evans wanted to spend more time alone with Emily so he came up with an idea.

"Emily, I want us to go at a quiet place. In the Park perhaps," he suggested.

"What! Are you kidding me? I can't be seen there. It is just too dirty," she said in an angry tone.

Evans was hurt to hear the words spoken by Emily. Later Evans said his farewells and left.

As he was going home he decided to visit the Park that Emily called dirty.

When he reached there, there were only few people present. He sat down on a bench and started thinking.

"Why did Emily call this place dirty?" he thought to himself.

Just as he was thinking, someone touched his shoulder from behind. He turned to see who it was. It was Kimberly. She was wearing a hat and a simple summer dress with pink flip-flops. She had a brown hand bag.

"Hi Evans," she said.

"Hi Kim," he replied.

"Do you mind if I sit here with you?" she asked politely.

"Please make yourself comfortable," he replied with a smile.

She sat down next to Evans.

"Nice weather we are having," Kimberly said with a smile on her face.

"Yes it is," Evans agreed.

"So how are you today?" she greeted Evans.

"I am fine," he replied.

"You don't look fine to me. Tell me. What's wrong?" Kimberly asked.

"It's nothing," he replied.

"You know what I don't understand you.You act weird. And now you are here, when I ask you anything you say -- nothing. Your name should not be Evans but -- Nothing," they both laughed.

After they talked for a while, they started walking through the Park together.

The sound of birds chirping and few people talking was amazing. The sky was clear and the sun was above them. The wind shaking the trees gently from left to right and from right to left. They walked in a direction of a lake. They saw some boys and girls playing in the lake while their parents sat down at a bench and watched then happily. Some people read different kinds of books while others played board games.

They came across a brown puppy held back by a lish. It was very cute that Kimberly couldn't resist. She pulled Evans and walked up to the dog owner and asked her if they could pet the puppy. The owner agreed. Kimberly had fun petting the dog. She noticed that Evans was two meters away from the puppy.

She asked him, "Are you scared of puppies?" After seeing his reaction, she laughed. They continued walking.

"By the way Evans, you look dashing" she praised.

Evans looked at Kimberly and said, "Thanks. So do you."

"Tell me, do you have any plans after University?" asked Kimberly.

"Why do you ask?" he asked Kimberly.

"I just want to know," she insisted.

"My dream is to be in a position of serving others," he replied.

"Wow! That is great. Don't let that dream die," then she stood in front of Evans, blocking his way. She pointed at him and said, "If you let it die, I will kill you," she laughed after seeing the reaction on his face. He looked very scared, like one who has seeing death.

"I'm just joking. I wouldn't do that," she assured and continued, "But on a serious note, don't give up on your dream." They continued walking.

They reached at a quiet place in the Park. Kimberly removed a board game from her hand bag. She asked Evans if they could play. At first he said that he wasn't good at "Chess," but Kimberly with her sweet charming character managed to convince him. They started playing "Chess," surprisingly Evans was good at "Chess" or maybe Kimberly was playing a losing game to boost Evan's confidence.

The time was now 5:30pm. Whenever Evans was with Kimberly, time seemed to be flying quickly than normal. The Park was almost closing and everyone went home.

Kimberly suggested that they go to watch a movie. Evans agreed and they went to a nearby theater to watch a movie.

Kimberly started liking Evans. But little did she know that Evans was dating.
