I try to keep up as we zigzag through the woods, but I fall behind, mind still a jumbled mess of confusion. Did I really hear Mace’s voice inside my head? No, I don’t think so; it must be my mind playing tricks on me. I gasp for air and stumble on my feet, struggling to keep up with Ashina’s quick steps. Everything starts to spin around me, and my lungs are on fire. Every muscle in my body aches, screaming at me to stop.
