I stood there and watched as Dessa got in her SUV, and she and Thor pulled out and took off. I was both happy and confused. I couldn't understand how the future queen of our people was my mate. It didn't make any sense to me, but I was so damn excited about it.
But I was also hurt. I could understand where she was coming from. After all, my parents and hers had been pushing for us to get married for years now. So I could see why she probably thought that it was a setup and a trap. But it wasn't possible to mess with a mate bond. I knew that she would come around. Right now, she was just in shock.
