The Fairy's Christmas Fairytale.

Chapter 2

Iridessa

For the past five years, I have lived in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It is a quaint little Christmas town. It's known as Christmas City USA. And the people here tend to celebrate Christmas all year long. I love it, and the best part is that it's the last place that my family would think that look for me.

That's why my uncles live here. My family never cared about where they were or where they were living. So none of them ever asked them. While my mom does call my uncle occasionally, she's never asked him where he lives at. And she never visits here.

When I first moved in with him, my mom and my grandmother both called my uncle Rowan. They both told him that I was missing and asked him to keep an eye out for me. My grandmother told him that she seriously doubted that I would ever come here to be around humans. But if I did, they were to call her immediately.

It was funny that she actually thought that he would listen to her. After the way that she let grandfather and the family treat him, the last thing that he would do is tell them anything. I was sitting right beside him when he was on the phone with both mom and grandmother. And we both spent the time rolling our eyes.

In the past five years, they have yet to find me. They still call Uncle Rowan a couple of times a year to see if he has seen or heard from me. We talked about it and agreed that he'd tell them that I call occasionally, but won't tell him where I am. He told them that, as far as he knew, I wasn't even in this realm. But he wasn't sure where I was. He was determined that I'd have a better life than the one he got to have.

While living here, I finished high school and even went to college. I love to cook and bake. So I started a company making cooking and candies. What started as a small company soon took off. So I bought a bigger building so that I could hire more people and make more candy and cookies.

I started off selling to local small shops and stores. And now my stuff is in big store chains across the US. Dessa Delights has really taken off, and I am so happy about it. After seeing how well that it's doing, I decided to open another branch after I turned twenty-one.

I've been playing around with names. It will either be Dessa's Sinful Delights. Or Dessa's Sinful Buzzy Delights. I've decided to make an adult-only candy. I've got different kinds of candies that I've come up with just for adults. I have candy canes that have booze in them. And I've come up with different chocolates. I've even been playing around with funny candies. I'm still working on those, though.

The adult candies will only be available in my store's gift shop. But I've been in talks with a few adult stores that want to sell it as well. Stores like liquor stores and adult shops. The adult shops even want me to come up with a special candy just for them to sell. So I'm also working on that.

I love to come up with different candies and cookies, so I spend all of my time in my big personal kitchen in my newest building. When I bought this newest building, I had it designed so that the top floor is my condo. That way I can live here. The floor right below it is pretty much my office, and my secretary's office by the elevator, and the rest is my kitchen. The next couple of floors down are for the other office workers.

Every floor after that, except for the bottom one, is for production. That's where all of the boozy candies and cookies will be made. The bottom floor with have two different shops on either side of the reception desk, with the elevators right behind the reception desk. On the left will be the shop for the regular candy. The shop on the right will be for the bozzy. You'll have to show an ID to even get in there.

The other building had the top three floors for the office workers for that brand. I even have a top-floor office in the building. The rest of the floors are for production, except for the bottom floor. The bottom floor has the reception desk, elevators, and the gift shop. We even do tours so that you can see how the candy is made.

I spend most of my time working. When I'm not working, I'm usually with my uncles and cousins. Out of all of my family, I have four cousins who are also my best friends. They all understood when I left our home and took off. They agreed that it was bullshit that our family was trying to sell me off like I was the village cow.

So Leander, Thor, Phoebe, and Rhea all sneak around to come and see me. None of them would ever tell my parents or grandparents where I am. My brothers and sister, on the other hand, would turn me over to them in a heartbeat. They won't ever do anything to go against our parents. The f*****g suck ups.

Since starting my company, I have also started to keep an eye on other candy companies. I like to see how well they are doing so that I know if my company is actually doing as well as some of these bigger companies. The top company that is based in New York is one company that I keep a close eye on.

Lately, we have been reaching the same numbers that they have. Word is that the new owner doesn't like that another company is starting to do as well as his company. I also know that he's tried to find out who the owner of my company is.

But I keep my name out of everything. I dont want my parents or grandparents to find me. So most of the time, I just go by Dessa Beth Lark. It's a play on my actual name. But it's different enough that my family wouldn't think that it's me. They wouldn't expect me to use part of my actual name for my name. They'd expect me to either use my name or change it completely.

That's what they always told us to do if we ever had to hide. They even gave us names to use. Of course, when they were talking about it, it was in the event that someone was trying to attack the crowned family. And we would need to hide. They always told us to never use our name or a version of it. So I didn't figure that they would catch on. And so far (knock on wood) they haven't found me. And I hope that it stays that way.

My life has been nice and peaceful these past few years. To most, it's probably a boring life. But I like it just the way that it is. I go to work, and then I go home. When the quiet of my apartment started to get to me, I broke down and got a McCaw. He's a mouthy little bird, but he's my mouthy bird. He keeps things interesting. And my life is better for it.

Life has been so good since moving here. And even better over the past few years. I was thankful for my life and happy the way that it was. I just know that my life was about to get turned upside down in more ways than one.
