Chapter Three ~ Dusky Harlot

1585 Words
~Lexy's P.O.V~ I walked into the school and immediately collided with a brunette girl. She scoffed and looked at me with a vulgar expression. I apologized by bowing my head slightly. "I'm sorry. I should've watched where I was walking," I told her sincerely. She looked me up and down. Then, her friend whispered something in her ear. She glared at me, slack-jawed and perplexed as her eyes ballooned. What could've been so shocking? I thought to myself. "HER??" she said to her friend, utterly shell-shocked. Her friend just nodded like she was intimidated by this dusky harlot. "So you're the slut that's dating Tryn?!" "Uhm... yes, but we've been dating for over a year. So how are you just finding this out now?" I narrowed my eyes at her. "Tryn and I go way back. He was at my school before he transferred here. We dated and had s*x before he broke up with me to move here. So I naturally came after him. I'm here to get back what is rightfully mine." she said in a matter-of-fact tone with a smirk. "Well, even so, he broke up with you and left. That should tell you something. He would've made it a long-distance thing if he wanted to be with you. Not that I know where you're from since he never mentioned you before, and coming after him? I'm getting stalker vibes, in my honest opinion." I said, shrugging my shoulders and rolling my eyes at her. Her jaw dropped again. She was stunned at what I had just said to her. She started stuttering. "I...I ca..can do just what I want." She sneered at me and yanked her backpack over her shoulder, securing it firmly while she stormed out the door. "Wow, what a bimbo," Amy said. "You're telling me," I scoffed. I turned and continued walking into school toward my locker. After that irksome encounter, I felt unnerving and insecure. I wonder if Tryn is here yet. I might text him. I want to know who this girl is. Not because I'm over-possessive or… at least I don't think I am? No. I just want to know what obstacles might lie ahead. She did say they dated and had s*x. I don't need to be anxious, do I? On the other hand, if there's an ex around who is stalking him, I think I have a right to know. I started calming myself by thinking of how he has always been there for me whenever I wept about Xander. I trust him with my entire soul. He would never do anything to hurt me. He is loving and always thinks of only what I want and need. I'm not the distrustful type, anyway. We can get through this without even so much as an impediment in our relationship, but I still need to know about this to be mentally prepared in the event I do see a distasteful ordeal. She does look like the pushy type. I'll text him anyway. Lexy: "Hey, babe. Are you at school yet?" Tryn: "Yeah, I'm waiting outside the headmaster's office. Want to meet up after I'm done? We can ditch class," *wink emoji* Lexy: "NO! Haha. If my mom finds out, she will tell my dad. That is not something I want in my birthday month." Tryn: "Hahaha! I know, babe. I was joking. Where are you right now?" Lexy: "At my locker. I had a very intriguing interaction with someone a few moments ago. I wanted to speak to you about it." Tryn: "Oh? Do you want me to come now?" Lexy: No, no. It can wait. Meet the headmaster first. Why does he need to see you, though? Are you in trouble?" Tryn: "No, nothing like that. Someone I used to know just transferred here. I'm sure he just wants me to make her feel welcome." I felt nervosity, and my stomach dropped. Lexy: "Oh, I see. Well, have fun." Tryn: "Did I say something wrong, babe? You seem upset?" He knows me well. Lexy: "No. It's nothing. I'll speak to you about it tomorrow. So don't worry, babe. I'm sure it's nothing. Tryn: "That's it. I'm coming right now." Lexy: "NO! It's okay, I swear. I'll speak to you about it tomorrow, babe. I'm fine, I promise. I love you. Tryn: "Why only tomorrow?" Lexy: "I just don't feel like dealing with it today, honestly." Tryn: "I dislike putting it off until tomorrow, but if you're sure. I'll respect it. We can talk about it tomorrow." That's when I stopped texting and just stared at my phone. I couldn't confront this issue today. I don't know how to go about it. I'll think about how to approach this appropriately. Is this girl dangerous to our relationship? Or is what I'm sensing incorrect? I'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out. ~*~ Amy dropped me at home from school, and I instantaneously went to my room. I flung my bag on the floor and collapsed onto my bed, stretching out my arms and legs. "What a day," I uttered to myself. I began to think about the dusky harlot and how I should convey it to Tryn. Should I be aggressive and turn it into an argument to show that I was upset about what she said, or should I take a page out of his book, take a peaceful approach, and speak to him calmly? He is always even-tempered toward me, so I owe him that much. Besides, this occurred before our relationship. I cuddled up with my pillow and slowly dozed off, dwelling on how I couldn't hold his past against him and the cloaked man's face still haunted my memories. I awoke with aggressive yelling from a familiar voice. I walked downstairs slowly, scared after what happened this morning and that it might happen again. I will not be caught by surprise again. I make my way slowly to the ground floor where I see Marcus outside with the rifle. He is aiming at something. I walk a little faster and see the crimson wolf baring his teeth from within the forest. It's Marcus against the wolf. Why is the wolf being hostile towards Marcus? He didn't seem like the type that would after being so protective of me. Who am I to judge a wild animal? All I knew was that I needed to stop this. "Shoot the damn thing already!" That voice... I ran outside to see the man that attacked me this morning. He was hidden from my point of view. He was standing next to Marcus while Marcus shakingly pointed the gun at the wolf. I gasped when I saw his finger start to tighten around the trigger. I didn't know how but the next moment I was in front of the wolf shielding him. My legs ran by itself. Marcus lowered the gun. "Lexy are you crazy? That thing will eat you!" Marcus yelled at me. "No, he won't. Look." I turned around and the wolf stopped baring his teeth and lowered his head so I could touch it. I rubbed his head and smiled. I turned back to Marcus. "It's not the wolf that's dangerous, it's that man!" I pointed at the black-cloaked man who stood next to Marcus. Marcus looked at me in confusion. "He said he saw the wolf coming onto our property and tried to stop it from hurting someone" "Marcus use your brain. Our backyard is surrounded by an endless forest. If this man saw the wolf then he must've been on our property in our backyard already or in the endless forest with the wolf, why hadn't the wolf eaten him then? Which means he was already in our backyard. Why?" "I.. don't know?" Marcus seemed even more confused. "He tried to kidnap me this morning. He's the intruder. The wolf is trying to protect us." "What? Why didn't you tell anyone?" Marcus asked. "Because she is spitting lies, young man." The man in the cloak said. "Oh? I am? What about these?" I rubbed my neck vigorously to get the makeup off and purple bruises appeared. "Where did these come from then? I asked him. He lunged toward Marcus before he could react and tried to get the rifle from Marcus. They were wrestling over it and even though Marcus is a gym monkey he couldn't keep up with this guy. He was on top of Marcus and winning. That's when the crimson wolf jumped passed me and grabbed the guy by the neck. He lifted him like he was a small stick in a dog's mouth. He carried him into the forest and disappeared leaving us with the shock of how easily he took care of such a strong man. That wolf can eat us on a whim if he wants... I helped Marcus up and he just wanted to know what happened that morning. After making him swear not to tell Mom and our siblings I told him everything. He was very concerned and almost looked like he was about to cry. I think realizing he wasn't strong enough to protect me made him sad. I told him I felt helpless but there's one thing I could control, it's not letting this control us. Let's not get scared again. Let's not go through what we did with Xander again. We agreed to push this incident under the rug. Seeing the wolf took care of the man.
