A Sweet Promise

Dinner is about to be ruined, but Caleb chooses Janice's wrath and wiping that look of horror off of his woman's face. Monster or not, Layla's terrified look pierces him to his core. And rather than being on his way to beat the hell out of Simon, he stands in front of her, searching for a way to get to her. He needs to fix this. Fast. But with his anger still raging it's a hell of a task to complete.

"Babe…This is not–" he aims to comfort again, but Layla retreats widening the gap between them. His temper flares at the action, but he does well to remind himself that this is all Simon and getting mad at her will drive her right where the bastard wants her. There is no way in hell he's letting that bastard get what he wants.

"Talk to me, please."

"I need to get out of here." She pleads.
