8 RYAN As the kids practically jumped on the phoenix, I wondered where in the world I was going to put him. All of the spare rooms I'd built with the vague idea of a mate and kids in some far-off future were packed full of the rascals, sleeping bags filling every floor. I didn't even know how many of them were here. I'm sure Kit did, though. Jesse and Nick had taken over the organization of our new residents. The older kids were staying in the double-wide with Simon, which I wasn't sure was the best idea, but thankfully I wasn't in charge. Kit had temporarily moved into my house and had taken over the madhouse. I fantasized briefly about moving out of my own home into the tiny house that was now Kit's, but even if I would physically be able to exist in the tiny space for a longer period
