AUTHOR’S POV The morning began quietly at the De Luca mansion. Of course it was always quiet. Lorenzo hated noise. The sun had barely risen above the trees when Elena opened her eyes. For a few seconds, she simply stared at the ceiling. She felt tired. Not the kind of tired that came from staying up late. It was the kind that made her body feel heavy before she had even gotten out of bed. She slowly sat up. Then she felt it. A familiar pain twisted through her stomach. Elena froze. She already knew what it was. Her period. She closed her eyes and sighed.“Of course.” Her periods had never been easy. Since she was younger, she had always struggled with painful cramps.
