STRANGER ALPHA

930 Words
Elara's POV "My lady." The maids echoed and I was roused out of my slumber. “My lady, you must get up, the alpha has requested that we get you ready early to-day. Please wake up." I was so tired that I felt like telling them to leave but already there was the bath ready, and the dress, they prepared me to sit upright as they bathed and dressed me. The treatment I received as a daughter of the Luna was so strange because in my heart I was already aware that it was not the case anymore. Just after they had dressed me one of them told me that breakfast was ready and my presence needed downstairs. I joined them immediately. “All must be ready by noon” said my grandfather in the middle of the meal. “Yes, father,” my mother said in a tone of respect. Then my grandparents went to discuss the new alliance and my mother went with them. It did not matter to me what direction she took, and so I went out to take a breath of air. The courtyard was crowded, servants had circulated, guards were following truckloads of treasures, gold and silver into the SUVs. I could see the engines turning, and I said to myself, suddenly, it is possible that life may change. Mom appeared before me in good time with a huge smile on her face. “Time to go,” she said in a low voice. I assented and walked with her to the SUV. Inside was warm and comfortable, yet I had something to worry about. The SUV jerked, the adventure began. After some time and unable to contain my curiousity, turned to her. "Mother, who is this new alpha?" She hesitated. "Alpha Caelan of Elarion." I believed I was going to choke a moment. "What?" Alpha Caelan?" She nodded slowly. I looked at her like she had gone crazy. "The Alpha Caelan? And the man who had so allegedly rejected all the women, including the prettiest, or richest, or most powerful, came to him? The richest of all the packs alpha? The one that does not smile, never...? Interrupting once more, she called out, "Elara,--Elara," she said. "Yes, that one." I was flabbergasted. "Mother, that can't be right. Why must he accept to be mated with you? And take me too? What if this is a trick?" She made no sort of a reply but looked out the window. “Mother…” I pestered. “You see you would not understand why,” she said. And you really do not need to know anything for now. When we get there, please, say nothing that will put us in the wrong. Agreed?" I sighed and crossed my arms. "Fine. But I'm not going to like it." She put her hand over mine gently. "I know you don't. But we do not have a choice.” This was the last thing she said, hours passed in silence. The boredom finally made me sleep. Hours later I was gently woken up by my mother. “Elara, elara,” she cooed and tapped my shoulder. "We're here." I shut my eyes and looked towards the window with one hand rubbing the sleep away from my eyes. My eyes opened, and my jaw dropped to the grind. Elarion was in no resemblance to what I had pictured; it was indeed much higher than Taranth. Even the air was fresher. The convoy passed a large gate that was open. Guarded by mighty wolves in black and gold tactical gear, taller than me, and looking very serious as well. The interior of the pack estate was exceedingly large; the walls and towers of marble shone. I swallowed, hard, intimidated by the show off of wealth. “This is beautiful.” "True," agreed my mother. “His Supremacy , Alpha Caelan made a pack like no other in all its glory.” The SUV of the lead has finally stopped at the entrance to the main estate. Many attendants were bowing outside. One of them opened the door of the SUV; another came to help my mother out. I walked behind not to fall, clinging to my skirts, as we were led into the palace. There was warm air indoors, perfumed with sweet incense. The walls were ornamented in golden designs and the floor was glossy. The guards directed us into a hall-way to the main hall. I attempted not to open my jaws in amazement. My mother was walking and in the full style; her head was high, and her back straight. My grandparents were close right behind us. Once we had entered the hall, I noticed a gathering of people, in the form of a semicircle, the elites and attendants and enforcers. My eyes went straight to the throne in the middle Of the room, not because of its unique design, but because of the man who sat on it. My heart stopped. My blood froze in my veins. Instead of sitting down to a plain black shirt and pants, leaning on a table in the bar. He was sitting up straight on the throne in dark purple and gold elite robe, with a gold crest on his chest. I must be dreaming. It cannot be true. That same, sharp jaw. Same eyes--the same man. The man I had thought a casual hookup, the man whom I passed the ni ght, was there in front of me! On a throne. “Bowing,” my mother said, “Alpha Caelan.”
