I hadn’t been myself for weeks. I couldn’t think straight, sleep properly and barely ate. Everything in my life felt like it had been yanked apart and smashed on the floor.
Emily was gone. She wasn’t in the house.
She wasn’t beside me. She wasn’t looking at me, blushing when I tease her, laughing, talking, breathing near me.
And without her, nothing made sense. To make everything worse, Vivian had been on my neck every damn day. Every night, she came into my room even though I told her not to. She’d try to touch me, hold me, talk to me like we were lovers.
Sometimes I almost hit her just to make her stop. But I always forced myself to hold back.
