Chapter 40: Why didn't I just listen?

 Emily's POV   My chest tightened, my breaths came out shallow, and I felt my knees almost buckle. My hands trembled, already cold. It was like the air had suddenly thickened, and I could barely think straight.  “Mrs. Miller,” A maid said worriedly, holding me as I almost lost my balance.  I glanced around wildly, hoping someone would somehow erase what I had just heard. Tyler’s face had gone pale, his jaw clenched tightly.  My mind screamed, Did she just say what I think she said?  “Vivian… this… this is… rubbish.” Tyler’s voice cracked,  But Vivian only leaned closer, pointing at the paper. “It wasn't rubbish when you were with me, night after night. Right?”  It felt like my stomach twisted, and I had to grab the back of a chair to steady myself.  Tyler
