Kai
The salty wind whipped across Kai’s face, flooding his lungs with the perfect scent of the sea. Eyes closed, he stood on the bow of the ship, feeling the faint rocking of the deck beneath his feet.
Home at last.
“This is a chivving waste of time,” Drew said.
“Quiet. I’m enjoying the wind.” Kai didn’t open his eyes.
“A pleasure cruise now?” Drew asked. “Is that what we’re going to do? Run about the Arion Sea for the fun of it?”
“We’re out at sea.” Kai opened his eyes, taking in the glorious sparkling of the sun off the water. “We’re not trapped on the docks. We’re not worrying about someone coming to burn our ship. Enjoy the time we’ve got out here. In a few days, we’ll be back in Ilara, and you’ll wish we were at sea.”
