The business side of the evening concluded, he ventured from Mayfair into the livelier climes of Covent Garden. His spirits lifted as he espied Daniel’s tidily brushed light brown hair, and then the rest of his neat and compact frame among the crowd in the tavern where they agreed to meet. Daniel was studiously guarding a nook so they might have a restful chat rather than having to shout over and be jostled by the barging throng.
